I put almost everything I know in the subject...the only other things I can say is that I think the boy was looking for some sort of amulet...and like I said its a first person point of view from the demon...and I think the cover of the book was blue...the demon's name (also the title) might have started with a b...but dont bank on that because I'm not sure.

The Amulet of Samarkand, I think. The demon's name is Bartimaeus, and it's the first book in the Bartimaeus Trilogy.
