Debra Hewitt | 36 comments Starting off with a book set in the US, the one I read most recently. Maybe choosing this, almost at random, will remind me that the books I read about other places will not represent every facet of life there.

1. North America-U.S.-Illinois-Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris

Welcome to the group and the challenge, Debi! You can use any books you have read since October of last year for the challenge.

Debra Hewitt | 36 comments Hi Diane, Thanks for the welcome and for all your hard work putting together this site and resources. It looks like fun! I'm not sure if I posted in the right place. I didn't see a separate folder for circumnavigating with no time limit. Let me know if I need to set up my list somewhere else.

Debra Hewitt | 36 comments Planned to take a little pleasure trip to the Caribbean as a break from reading about the Holocaust and genocide. Not sure if a thriller was the right choice, but it felt less real, so made for a little vacation.
Caribbean-Guadeloupe and Dominica- Circle Of Bones a Caribbean Thriller by Christine Kling
Circle of Bones by Christine Kling combines tales of sailing with investigations into the mysterious disappearance of a submarine in WWII and present day Skull and Crossbones members. There are villains, of course, (dastardly ones) and a romance.

Debra Hewitt | 36 comments Thoroughly enjoyed reading Istanbul Passage by Joseph Kanon Istanbul Passage A Novel by Joseph Kanon
Middle East-Turkey

It had lots of local color, and I ended up going to the library for a guidebook on Turkey to look up places that I read about.

I just finished Fraser's Penguins A Journey to the Future in Antarctica by Fen Montaigne Fraser's Penguins by Fen Montaigne. It took me a while, but it was worth the read for the picture it gave of Antarctica and its warnings about global warming. Recommended.
