Definitely A. I would miss real books but I rarely read them anymore. The lack of movies is strange though. I would like to know why that occured.
I'm still kind of on the fence about this one. A definitely has its attractions. But I sympathize with Felix's fascination with paper books.
A few weeks ago, while driving home from work after a particularly crappy day in the cubicle, I watched a thin, beautiful woman with hair like mine zip past me on the freeway, driving a shiny red Mustang convertible, and I was struck by the thought that I had just glimpsed the version of me that had her shit together. So no, I do not think I would want to meet my alter. But I am curious why Felix A cannot smell, or taste anything other than cheese, chocolate, and nuts.
I'm pretty sure that he was ill at one point and lost his sense of smell and most of his sense of taste. After Y-Day obviously.
I have a couple theories about the lack of movies - the most simple is that the author prefers books and wanted it that way. The other is that it has to do with A's approach to media - books, at least, start out free to read. Maybe the same approach failed with movies ... but the studios weren't going to just evaporate unless something else happened, so I don't know.I am going to be out of town until Monday, unfortunately, and I don't know how much Internet access I will have. (Probably not much.) If I can, though, I will certainly pop in here to see how things are going.
I find it very odd. It appears they are a more interactive society. They don't have traditional books (even in digital). As Felix A was saying he found it odd to have just a wall of text without images and videos to explain more. So I'd have thought they'd have more interactive movies. I'd like to hear the authors reasoning behind it.
When I picked up the book again after my previous post, the very next page after the bookmark was the one that explained about Felix A's lack of smell.

And would you want to meet your alter (if you had one), or would you rather that they keep as far away from you as possible? Would you be at all interested in visiting the other universe?
