L We shall begin with a film that has just been released and which has cleaverly combined fantasy with fairytale; that of course being 'Snow white & the Huntsman'.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With Kirsten Stewart (from Twilight) playing Snow and a whole cast of familar faces, it is set to be the film of the summer that takes this classic fairytale to *new* heights and gives it a twist...Drama, action, full of fighting and battle scenes it is certainly not your steriotypical 'quaint' little childrens story, as a sinister and quite deadly mystery lurks beneath the shadows. All is not what it seems when the wicked Queen holds a secretive plot and one that will bring the downfall of all the good that we know, with the first step as having Snow White's head in her hands.

Will Snow white be able to keep out of the Queen's clutches or is her assasination only the tip of the iceberg, and more lurks beneath the waters surface...all is not what it seems!

I love films!!

L Another *new* film shortly to be released is the prequel to 'Taken'...
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Plot Summary: Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers one by one...

Michael Cargill Cargill (michaelcargill) Dark fantasy stuff has a good chance of being good.

If I am honest, the films I am looking forward to are the new Batman and James Bond films.

I think Craig is great as Bond.

message 8: by L (new)

L I love the *new* Bond and really enjoyed both Casino Royal and Quantum of Solace...they were brilliant!! Plus i have to also say how much i prefer the new Batman to the older movies, which seems much more authentic and realistic...great films!! :)

Michael Cargill Cargill (michaelcargill) Yup, same here. Loads of people slag off Quantum of Solace but I think it's great.

Christopher Nolan is actually the first director that I have followed. His only bad film so far is Insomnia, but even then that was merely average.

message 10: by Julie (new)

Julie Rainey I did like the two Batman movies from Nolan, but I'm afraid I don't like the James Bond that much. I'm with Lucinda on the Batman movies, the ones before Nolan made them were super cheesy I thought. The new ones are much better.

message 11: by Julie (new)

Julie Rainey Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Do you think this movie will be any good?

message 12: by Luna (new)

Luna (lunaraven) | 18 comments I will of course see Taken 2 as Liam Neeson is my weakness. I'll really watch anything with Liam Neeson. As for the Snow White film, I hope Stewart can display a few more emotions in this film a she always comes off as emotionally constipated in the Twilight films.

message 13: by Danniella (new)

Danniella Duff (danniellaalisaduff) | 3 comments I will definitely be going to see The Pact

message 14: by L (new)

L Not sure about 'the pact'?? Lunaraven...i like Liam Neeson as an actor too, and think that he was fantastic in the first Taken film. They are quite gripping movies to say the least!

message 15: by Danniella (new)

Danniella Duff (danniellaalisaduff) | 3 comments Well I love my horror movies and it looks interesting.

message 16: by L (new)

L I once saw a horror/ thriller film that became etched in my mind a long time afterwards (and during sleep!), but i cannot seem to remember what it was called?? I remember that there was a man (turned robot?) who could NOT die! He just kept coming back to life again & again & again, and even by the end of the film when he was presumed dead there was still his metal mask left...presuming he might come back to life again?!
It was quite some time ago when it was on television, and i have looked through lists of horror/ scary/ thriller films but i still have no idea what it was called! My poor memory...x

message 17: by Danniella (new)

Danniella Duff (danniellaalisaduff) | 3 comments The only movie like that I can think of is Friday the 13th or maybe Halloween. The only movies I wont watch is chick flicks :/

message 18: by L (new)

L Perhaps...?? :)

message 19: by Alex (new)

Alex Akira (AlexAAkira) | 6 comments Yes to Taken 2!
Liam is second only to Viggo M. (The History of Violence) in my book, the original Taken will be hard to beat, beautiful film that.
Going to see Prometheus tommorow!

message 20: by L (new)

L Taken was such a great film and one that had me sitting on the edge of my seat all the way through, therefore i am certainly very curious as to how they are going to better it with the second film??

Have fun @ the cinema! x

I can't wait either!! I just watched the first two Batmans and they were AMAZING! :D

message 25: by Julie (new)

Julie Rainey I like the movies, but geesh they are depressing. I could go in with the best mood in the world and come out hating life.

message 26: by L (new)

L Julie wrote: "I like the movies, but geesh they are depressing. I could go in with the best mood in the world and come out hating life."

Oh dear! I do see what you mean though, as they are certainly quite drematic and serious and nothing like those childish 'batman & robin' cartoon sketches and whitty series that one watched as a kid.

The main 'evil' character in the last film with his mask was quite creepy, but this one is frightning to look at! I still would love to see it though (even if i sit gripping the edge of my seat throughout!) x

...Bane. Not sure i would like to meet him at night!

message 28: by HC (new)

HC | 10 comments Definetly NOT!! *shudder* the Joker was really freaky too.

message 29: by Alex (new)

Alex Akira (AlexAAkira) | 6 comments Cillian Murphy is the Man! His cat eyes are so expressive, can't wait for this one... though lately De Niro, whom I love dearly... has been sucking the life out of films.

Just heard some awful news that the Batman movie probably doesn't want associated with it.

Someone in Colorado (USA) opened fire inside a midnight screening of the movie and killed around 12 people and injured at least 40. Not only that but he also had his whole apartment wired with explosives.

message 32: by L (new)

L I herd this on the news and was quite shocked! terrible

message 33: by Anna (new)

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 47 comments I know. It's abnormally heartless and cruel. I heard that a girl was sitting with her friend when her friend was shot in the head during the movie and died. It shocked me greatly to hear that from my sister.

message 34: by HC (new)

HC | 10 comments It's awful. They said that he was pretending to be the Joker too.

message 35: by Anna (new)

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 47 comments Oh My Goodness!! You must be kidding. I mean, the Joker is a fictional character played the late Health Ledger but to pretend to be him and shoot all those people, is just beyond limits. Did you hear that the youngest victim was a 3 month old baby?

message 36: by L (new)

L How terrible. I don't understand how some indaviduals can act in such a way...

message 37: by Julie (new)

Julie Rainey He was a student of neuroscience so it makes you think maybe he was experimenting with something that made him nuts, of course more likely he was just a sociopath. He could have also done it for attention, which he got.

message 38: by L (new)

L Dreadful x

message 39: by L (new)

L What films are you looking forward to seeing this summer??? Have you already seen a great film, then feel free to share!

((I cannot wait to see 'The Dark Knight rises', 'The Hobbit: an unexpected journey' and also a the next installment within the Twilight Saga))

message 40: by Julie (new)

Julie Rainey I really really want to see the remake of Total Recall. I absolutely love Kate Beckinsale!

message 41: by L (new)

L Anyone see the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics, in which 007 arrived with the Queen via parachute from a helicopter?! Aparently Daniel Craig is going to recieve an award from her majesty, because of his contrabution to the film industry.

message 42: by HC (new)

HC | 10 comments He deserves it!!! :D I love all of his movies that I've seen!

message 43: by L (new)

L i watched Quantum of solace this evening, it was AMAZING!! x

message 44: by Sofie (new)

Sofie | 2 comments I loved that the Queen participated in something like that. That shows how important the Olympics is for UK.

L Sofie wrote: "I loved that the Queen participated in something like that. That shows how important the Olympics is for UK."

They are so important to us & there is a real sense of team spirit at the games that is electric...we love it! x

message 46: by Sofie (new)

Sofie | 2 comments Here in Norway our royal family participated a lot to get the Olympics to our country, and Crown Prince Haakon lit the Olympic torch. His sister had started the torch relay from what the place that is called "The Cradle of Skiing" in Morgedal in Telemark. That fire "almost"-merged with the fire from Greece during the relay.

message 47: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 57 comments The Dark Knight Rises was GREAT. One of the BEST Batman movies. Christopher Nolan is GREAT, too. If you haven't seen this movie, do go.
The best thing to do before you see the movie is go back to see the 2 movies before this one to refresh your memory.
It's 2hrs. and 45min. VERY long.
