Julie Rainey Hello All,
Just wondering if any other authors from this group are on Pintrest. I was trying to pin everyone that I could find but so far I've only found Michael. I would love to add others and help spread the word.
-Julie :)

Michael Cargill Cargill (michaelcargill) | 372 comments I only really use it to occasionally re-pin my book covers and my blog posts.

message 3: by Deborah (new)

Deborah George (ddippydebbie) | 21 comments i havent heard of it, what is it?

Michael Cargill Cargill (michaelcargill) | 372 comments To look at, it's essentially a customised version of Google image search.

Once you are signed up, if you see another picture you like (say, some clothes on a shopping site) you can 'pin' that image onto your Pinterest account.

You can do the same thing for any photos and images that you have taken and uploaded yourself, and everyone who is signed into Pinterest will see it.

Pinterest seems to be mostly full of women pinning pictures of clothes, shoes and things they have cooked.

Deborah George (ddippydebbie) | 21 comments lol i dont do clothes shopping or shoe shopping and i hate cooking, so as a woman i may not really fit in on it lol..

message 6: by Julie (new)

Julie Rainey I don't like shoe or clothes shopping either. I pin images of place I want to travel and books I like to read. That's pretty much it.

message 7: by D.M. (new)

D.M. (DMYates) Julie, I'm on pinterest and love it.

You can pin whatever you want, just by making a board, so there's more than clothes. I do travel and books too.

message 23: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Roberts Hello all! Pinterest really works !!!! I have a blog exclusively for women called The Girlz Korner which has become a great promotional tool for my writing. I created it 3 years ago before I even became a published author and have built up quite a following now. I use every social networking platform available including Pinterest to promote my blog and generate attention to my books. I have a board entitled Books I've Published. I use it to get potential readers excited about my books like posting pictures of my male "hotties" I emulated my character after.

message 24: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Lesley (cplesley) I love Pinterest, and it would be great if some of you followed me there (Catriona Lesley). I have several book-related boards for my favorite books and for books on writing, but I am also, right now, posting daily updates for the journey that the hero and heroine of my just-released novel, "The Not Exactly Scarlet Pimpernel," take through eighteenth-century England and revolutionary France. The board is called Nina's and Ian's Journey.

I have a second board for the series I am working on, Legends of the Five Directions, which includes images from Russia and Central Asia. I will be happy to follow you back.

Catriona Lesley is also my Facebook name, so if you like what you see on Pinterest, please friend me on Facebook, too.

Looking forward to learning more,
C.P. Lesley

You could start by adding a picture, then add more pins and a link to your webpage. You also need a picture on Facebook and to allow subscribers on Facebook. You can join the goodreads author program at the bottom of this page: http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

Chris Breedlove) (chrisstevenson) | 30 comments Thanks, guys. I'm starting to figure it out piece by piece. It's tough for a non-tech person to grapple with.

Julie Rainey Ashley wrote: "Okay... I feel out of the loop. What is Pinterest and how do you get it?

(Technically challenged...)"

Pinterest is a site that allows you to pin pictures you like to a board where others that follow you can see and comment on them or re-pin them. I don't get on very much but there are some pretty neat things on there.

message 39: by Rhachelle (new)

Rhachelle Nicol' (RhachelleNicol) | 16 comments I must confess, I signed up for pinterest over a month ago and the whole invitation only and waiting for a log-in/password turned me off. So when all the log in info was finally sent I never logged on. But you all have made me interested once again. I'll post my info once I log on and follow you all as well. I have my site http://rhachellenicol.com set up so readers can pin so I guess it would only be smart for me to go where my readers are.

I thought it was kind of weird to have to be sent an invitation myself but it only took a day for me so I guess I'm lucky since some have had to wait much longer.

I barely have time to get dressed in the morning?

As to the question where does one find time for reading, blogging, exercising, mothering, and Pinteresting, etc. I don't...I pick one and go with it until one of the other ones forces me to change focus. Pinterest is usually something I do at 1:30 in the morning when everyone else is asleep. It is addictive.
