People who’d like a more personal verification of this fact might want to drop by the purls forum (http://purlsonline.forumotion.com/) June 3rd between12 and 3 in the afternoon, (pacific time).
Josh Lanyon, Nicole Kimberling, Astrid Amara and I will be there chatting about Irregulars, (and pretty much anything else; we don’t often keep on topic when the four of us get together).
In other news, my short story, Blood Beneath the King, will appear in an upcoming issue of Icarus Magazine (http://www.lethepressbooks.com/icarus...).
While writing the story, I had a great time brushing up on my Shakespeare and exploring fairy lore. I expanded on the ominous undertones of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to answer the questions I’d always had about the fate of the changeling boy who is carried off by Oberon at the end of the play.
At least that’s what I attempted. Obviously I’m not the bard but I did my best and I’m quite fond of the result. So I’m pretty excited and flattered that Steve Berman found a place for my odd little fairy-tale in his beautiful magazine....
So how was that for news? too much? too dull? Needs more pictures and an editorial section, doesn't it? :D
Yay, Ginn! You came by! I knew the trail of black licorice I left would eventually lure you here.

Yes, I had no idea when I sent you a copy of Blood Beneath the King that it would get published... Maybe you're my lucky charm!

mmmmmhhh.... yuuuummmmmy licorice--stuck my teeth together there for a minute.)
Also could I get some coffee?

Ehmm... I meant thank you *for the news*. I didn't want to make everybody envious because I've got the story already.
And I think I cut a poor figure with you, because I never comment after I read it: it is (obviously) excellent!

I'm so glad that you liked it!
I was worried that it wasn't much of a gift after the lovely present you sent me. I still have it hanging in my office and lighting up the room.

Thank you for inspiring it! I'll do my best to keep it up, but feel free to poke me from time to time if you want any updates. :D

It's a deal! I'll count on your pokes, (and secretly look forward to them!) :)

Sorry, no. I think it will be the fall Issue, but I won't know for sure.
Steve just asked me if he could publish the story and I agreed. As soon as he sends me a contract I should be able to tell you more...

Eeeepppp!
:D
(No, really, please do!)

I know! Just the pressure of being poked was enough!
Hey just popping in to announce that today we signed a contract to sell Japanese translation rights for Ginn's books Lord of the White Hell Books 1 & 2.
Congratulations, Ginn! (I can't wait to see the Japanese covers! I love the book design over there.)

OMG!!!!!!!!!
At last I have an excuse to blast the Tom Waits song Big in Japan while strutting around the shed!!

That would be really cool. I'm always fascinated to see how differently people visualize the same world and characters.
Though it is a pretty long story... Some manga artist would probably be cursing my name after a few hundred pages. :D

Hey Lee!
My big news is that His Sacred Bones has been printed and I think it's being shipped out--I just got my copies and I was really excited to see all the extra stuff that ended up in it: not only a mini-story about John and Kyle but also a bunch of illustrations and a cartoon!
Other than that I'm finishing up the sequel to Lord of the White Hell... from the page count, it's looking like it might be printed as two books.
Elezar is too big to fit in one puny book! :D
I know that Nicole is doing some serious editing for BEB right now, but I'm hoping that she's also going to come out with another book soon. She really has a unique voice and I love her stories.

I'm all pumped up myself, with all the big battles and drama--And I just might deliver it to the publisher ON TIME!!!
(knock on wood) :D

Thank you for giving me the nudge!
I get so wrapped up in writing sometimes that I fail to notice that months have passed... (You don't even want to know about the state my laundry gets in at times like this. ;D)

I ought to thank you for being so patient!
I'm terrible about updates. Though maybe this way when His Sacred Bones arrives in mailboxes around the world it will be a happy surprise!

They are very close to done!

Well, he's definitely a couple handfuls right now!
;D

It will definitely be one!

Hey Antonella! Do make sure you let me know how you feel about the extras at the back okay? I'm curious how they will be received. :)

Ginn, do you know that Nicole spilled the beans about all your productions in the near future on Josh's thread? ;-)
ETA: *almost* all

"
No the last I'd heard there was a race for last on the Holiday codas... The trouble those two get up to together! ;D

Is there an estimated date for the next Lord of the White Hell book ?"
EXTRAS!! The last print book is packed with them--including a Holiday coda, a cartoon and a bunch of illustrations that never made it into the digital books.
As an author it was really pretty cool to see it all. I hope readers enjoy it as well.

I don't have a solid date yet except that the digital version will come out in 2014.

I'm more of a print and paper reader myself.
I think with Rifter having it in three books --as opposed to 10 digital books--makes it easier to flip back if you want to refresh your memory or find some detail.
I hope you enjoy the extras!

I really hope you enjoy the little extra story. I had a great time writing it.

I find this comment so interesting. I'm a HUGE ebook fan (have over 3500 ebooks) and I LOVE them. I think any avid reader who lives in a city and has to deal with smaller apartments definitely finds ebooks advantageous.
That said, when I really REALLY love a book, I ALWAYS order a paper (or hard)back copy. I like to do my rereading with an actual book in my hands. Something about the feel of the paper and that new book smell is so powerful, especially if it's a book you love. As Lee said above, I've been rereading the first two volumes in paperback and have enjoyed them more than the initial read on my Kindle. (I pre-ordered the last book, and am still eagerly awaiting for it to ship. Can't wait to finish the saga, and well...Extras?? **drools**)

There's something almost magical about being able to access thousands of volumes with just one small device. I'm always impressed when a friend shows me all the choices they have on their nook, kindle or tablet. It's like carrying a library in your hand!
But I have to agree with you that there is also something very pleasing about holding a print book in hand, flipping through the pages. Something sentimental about the object itself.
Hopefully, you'll soon be flipping through the pages of His Sacred Bones and enjoying that 'new book' perfume! :D

On a serious note, I know this was brought up previously, but has there been any further thought to turning any of your books (or any of the other titles from BEB) into audio books? You can blame your good friend Josh Lanyon for getting me addicted to them (the productions of his audio books are FANTASTIC!!!) and I'm just curious? Ginn? Nicole? Any future plans?

It has been discussed but we just don't know. :)
I am so happy you liked the pictures. I think my favorite is the one of the dog. :)

I LOVE the dog pic, but I have to say I think my favourites are the drawings of Vundomu. I always imagined it as a darker place, but I love the Giger-esque quality to the sketches. When you consider how John is able to move and control the earth around him, the entire place takes on a much more organic feel in my imagination, for all of its defenses and layers.

I know, right? You can see why I wanted to include the sketches. They're just too cool to not be shared.
Plus I really love books with pictures. :)

Thank you to Ginn for the lovely handwritten words.
Till now I only looked at the great pictures, because I'm reserving the vignette for the time I'll reread the whole lot.

That was exactly what I liked about the pictures too!

Pictures are the only reason I buy cookbooks."
Me too!
I don't really cook--which is for the good of us all; cran-liver cocktail, anyone? However I do have a terrible habit of just looking through the pictures and recipes in cookbooks with an almost pornographic fascination.

I'm so pleased that you got the book! And I really am thankful for all the support I've received while working on this project. You--and so many other readers--have been wonderful!
