Okie (okiecavies) | 25 comments I really loved this book. I feel very strongly that Christians in Western cultures need to re-read the bible through the lens of the language and culture it was written in. When we don't make a conscious effort to be cognizant of the culture Jesus lived in, we not only miss out on a lot, but we unknowingly perpetuate misinformation and misinterpretation.

Yes, Jesus was deeply part of ancient Jewish culture. Many times I think Christians attribute modern attitudes to Jesus He didn't have.

Patrick Todoroff This is a brilliant book. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

I know a dozen pastors who need to read it and get a grip on what it's saying.
