The first-for the very mundane reason that it was so sumptuously written I found it difficult to follow. And maybe because it is the first section and only after getting through it was I able to enter into the rest of the book. It taught me how to read this book so it was important but not "fun."
The second, I think, because I found him the least sympathetic character. I found ch. 6 very difficult to get into to start with but once I got going couldn't put it down!
There have been quite a few "Gotcha" moments while I was reading the early chapters, including Chapter 6.
I do feel as if I need to ready my mental muscles to begin Chapter 9. I do not read ahead. I've no idea whether Chapter 9 will be an easy skate or an Olympic feat! I've come to know that I'll more than likely be surprised by what I'm about to read.
