Leigha Burkhalter i fell in love with this book from page one!!! the action and love and suspense was immaculate! i was surprised though, when Valentine told Jace and Clary that they are brother and sister. what do you think??? are they really or no???

Stephanie S. I don't want to believe it, because they had incredible chemistry, but I KNOW they really are siblings. I can just tell. This is not one of those plot twists the author throws in there to catch you off balance and then tells you later it was all a lie. I can just tell it's not like that. They're siblings, even though I don't want to believe it. They were in LOVE for god's sake! Not just like a little crush, they were IN LOVE! And now they have to throw that all away because they're friggin' SIBLINGS! I HATE THE WHOLE BOOK! It was a good book and I love it but I hate it just for that.

Ella Hmmm...they might have to throw it away...or they might not. Who says they have to let their close familial relationship stop their romance? ...Just kidding. I hope.

Holly I absolutely loved the book and I dont usually give books five stars, but this one definitely deserved it...until I read about Jace and Clary. GEEZ!!! THEY WERE SOOOOO GOOD TOGETHER!!! And no offense to Simon, but he is SO FREAKING BORING!!! rawr.

Sandy According to pretty much everything CC has said--yes. I'm afraid that the angst around their not-fading-away-overnight romantic feelings is going to stick around for a while.

I am guessing (based on other writing of hers) that this angst will be a factor in pretty much every relationship in the boook. It will be obviously torturous for Jace and Clary themselves, it will mess with whatever new thing Simon and Clary have going on, it will brew jealousy in Alex and Jace's relationship, and it will keep Isabella wary.

It will also be an all-too-easy way for Valentine to pray on their feelings and loyalty--an emotional hotbutton card to play.

I am intrigued to see how it will play out, and my hopes are a little higher for these next two books in the series (agian, largely due to her previous work--she tends to iron out awkward kinks in writing/plotting as a series moves on).

Kako I hate this book!! I totally loved it until the end. Jace was so hot and they went perfectly together, and then the bomb dropped. That is just sick and wrong.

Svea-ness BAD ending! it was Perfect until then! I was like WHAT????? that is impossible! NONONONONONONONONONONONONO! But the next one is out soon so hopefully it will be better... hmmm

Concannon Am I the only one who kind of liked the end? ~__~ I mean, when I first read it, I stopped and went, "WHOA." And then I kept muttering to myself about how I couldn't believe that she'd pulled a Star Wars on us, but without the beneficial distraction of Han Solo.

But the more I've thought about it (and, admittedly, after reading the next book), the more I think I kind of like it. It's sick and wrong, very much so, BUT THE EMOTIONAL TURMOIL IT RESULTS IN IS JUST SO EXCITING.

Jennifer Forist I loved this book!!! the ending was very dissapointing and i agree that simon is boring and seems like way too much of a dork but clary but.... ill give it a chance:( gotta read the second one now though

Stephanie S. Okay, I changed my mind. I read City of Ashes and now I am seriously doubting the fact that they are siblings. It seems like there is some big secret Valentine is keeping from them and could it be that... I don't know: THEY MIGHT NOT ACTUALLY BE RELATED?!! That would be pretty FRICKING AWESOME! I cried when Jace told her "I'll just be your brother from now on." I was like NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Jgs this book was awesome it was awesome i read it in 6 hours flat i found the second book and im going to finish it in record time!

message 12: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ OMG!!! i just finished this book and it was INCREDIBLE!! I must read the other ones as soon as possible... XD

Lorie I do agree with you on this.

Following Rimsha Ahaha.. dude I have the same feelings as everyone else. Everything was good until BAM! And I was thinking about putting the book down and never picking it up again.. but I did.. and then I read 'City of Ashes' as well.. and now I'm waiting for the 3rd series to come along. I heard somewhere that Jace and Clary are actually NOT going to be siblings; one reason to read the 3rd book!

message 15: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ yeah i'm starting to think maybe they're not siblings... it would just wreck the entire series! :P

Cedony I think you should delete this thread. Anyone who comes in to check the summary and reviews about this book will see the title of this thread, and have the ending spoiled for them.

Erin I have to agree with the majority of the people who were surprised by the ending of City of Bones. I was totally taken back. I had the same reaction as Rimsha and didn't want to keep on reading, but I did as well. I am hoping that while the series continues (and what some people said) that Clary and Jace are not brother and sister. Does anyone remember when Dorthea told Jace that he would fall in love with the wrong person? This could mean two things: that he wasn't suppose to fall in love with Clary because she is his sister or he wasn't suppose to fall in love with Clary because she didn't grow up as a Shadowhunter. Let's hope that it's the second theory and I hope that the love between them stays. I just absolutely loved the chemistry between them, from the first time he met Clary, he was hooked on her. You can't just throw that away!! Can't wait to read the other two.

message 18: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ Totally; they just HAVE to end up together! Gah it's so frustrating, cuz when I try to explain this book I'm like, "OKAY THEY'RE SIBLINGS BUT THEY'RE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER!!! AAAAH!!!" And everyone's like "Okaaay ..." But if you've read it, you know what I mean. lol. XD ANYWAY. They probably won't turn out to be siblings, because if they do then I will scream and hurl the book across the room. Plus Simon is annoying and I wish he'd just die already. Oops I guess that was kinda harsh. Oh well. XD heehee

Following Rimsha Poor simon! :P that was pretty harsh Brigid! :) I want the next book to come out already!

Arlette I am reading City of Ashes now and i just think they are too perfect for each other. there is no way they are brother and sister- ok, maybe they are but I don't want them to be! i just wish the whole siblings thing is just another part of valentine's plan and not the truth

Corey Urick I was sooooooo sad when I finished the book because of Clary and Jace. I have the second book and now I don't want to read it!!! I'm hoping we'll maybe find out a whole big lie and find out they aren't really related... somehow I doubt it though! AHAHA!

Jessica I totally Loved city of bone until the brother sister thing i mean EW!!! But i don't think they really are it will just be another of Valentines lies!

Jessica P.S. Jace is just sexy and i really liked Clary except i wanted her to fight some you know? NOT be SO helpless

Jessica I totally agree with erin and brigid!

Bree Omg I threw the book across the room and never wanted to pick it up agin when I found out.they are so great together.I mean come on some of u had to figure out she was valentiens kid before she did I mean the years didn't add up her mom left 16 years ago and clary was 15 am I the only 1 who figued it out.also I thought her brother might be alive but I tought it be great if clary had a brother it could egual a really funny chapter with jace so I kinda freaked also don't u think it is odd that valentine said he will be with his father soon enough if he was his father why would he refer to himself in 2nd person piont of view? That the only hope I've got that they arnet siblings

rebeccaaaa_ wait till you read the third book. its the best yet :D

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

3rd book they find out they ARE NOT siblings :) then 4th book continues them being "together"

Rayne they can not be brother and sister
i just started the book and now i hear there brother and sister!!!!!!!!!!
there perfect for each other the way clary can barely stand on her two feet and jace is the one holding her up
but its not like the lovey dovey ones
they have there moments and even funny ones
they bicker and thats funny
i love the way jace thinks he's so gorgeous and clary is just like not!
they have to be togehter!!!!!

Allison yep the thirs book is amamzing i think they r bot brother and sister... cuz if u remeber int he 2nd book when they r ont he ship the inquistor says ur father would have been proud of u. and we alll know the inguistor hated jace for beign valentines son and she hates valentine i think jace is not her brother and it is just a bog mixup

LaTisha Ive just finished the last book of the series! It's such a page turner. I really want to say whether they are brother and sister. I must resist!

Thank you. This is how i was feeling too. I was along with the story and really liked the idea of them together then that happened and I was like WHAT??? I didn't read the next one. Did you think it was better??

Nicz read city of glass. u will know

message 38: by Rose (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rose Well, i think you should read the two other books before you ask.

Cambria LOL. The books on my to-read list. thanks to everyone who recommended i give it another try!

Jersey you should read city of glass and you will know...
:)

Marina dont ask if we tell you we are gonna ruine the whole story. you will find out in the cityof glass :)
i think the truth is between chapters 16-17

Beatrix City of Glass will blow you away. (:

Allison but u have to read the whole series to find out the truth though

Melanie When I read this, I seriously thought I was reading Star Wars. I couldn't take the ending seriously because I was thinking, "I am your father." But now that I think about it, it was really odd. I do think they are brother and sister.

message 45: by Nurlely (last edited Apr 16, 2011 06:47AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nurlely I do not think we could find out whether Jace and Clary are not sibling by only reading City of Bones. I remember perfectly that I was dying to wait for the fact after finding nothing in City of Ashes. Waiting for City of Glass almost killed me. The worst time ever..

I knew one thing for sure while reading City of Bones. It will be a total blunder if they are sibling. I always had my hope and expectation that they are not sibling. It will be to cruel should they were sibling. As Jace said;...."a cosmic joke"

I am glad I have read City of Glass...:)

Atarah Poling Stephanie S. wrote: "I don't want to believe it, because they had incredible chemistry, but I KNOW they really are siblings. I can just tell. This is not one of those plot twists the author throws in there to catch you..."

I feel the same way. I loved the book but that part of it was just GRRRR. LOL

Sarah Elder Leigha wrote: "i fell in love with this book from page one!!! the action and love and suspense was immaculate! i was surprised though, when Valentine told Jace and Clary that they are brother and sister. what do ..."

i totally agree...I stopped reading in the middle of the second book..but I've heard some things about the third that I might like so I'm going to have to finish the series I think!!

message 48: by Ally (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ally I love this book! It's so good. I'm reading the new one right now. City of Fallen Angels. Yeah. It's super awesome, I love Jace and Clary!

message 49: by Em (new)

Em No, they're not. It's just Valentine's way of screwing with the both of them. Read the last book and you'll know.

Nurlely Sarah wrote: "i totally agree...I stopped reading in the middle of the second book..but I've heard some things about the third that I might like so I'm going to have to finish the series I think!!"

Having them as sibling was crazy but CC had mentioned that there will be two more books when City of Bones was released. I think CC is also allergic to incest.

You should read the whole book. They are awesome, especially City of Glass....:)
