Josh (hexijosh) | 15 comments I have a tendency to stick to gay fantasy and young adult novels (two hard subjects to find quality work in), so I went outside of my comfort zone with this one. But my expectations were blown out the window pretty quick. I actually liked this one a lot and have this book club to thank for exposing me to it.

I really like the world Meljean Brook crafted, with a few twists on steampunk, and I'm looking forward to reading more in the series, especially if she delves into Scarsdale's character more (new literary crush).

Also, I want to play a video game RPG with Yasmeen as the main character. She's so cool!

Nicole (nbennett) | 13 comments I am excited to read a story with more of her in it. I just can't get any more of the stories associated with this one cause they are not available yet for intralibrary loans (I live in a small county, if I lived 5 minutes away I would be able to get most of these type of books no problem. grr)

message 3: by Felicia, Grand Duchess (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jane Higginson | 180 comments Im in agreement with you Josh, this book isnt my normal genre, I am loving the world and the characters in the book, Im so thankful to felicia bonnie veronica and kiala for forming this book group cos its made me realise im reading too much of the same thing and I need to explore more!
I aslo agree on more scarsdale he has me kinda intrigued lol

Amber (rubicundheart) | 27 comments Scarsdale was my favorite part of the book. <3

Kimberly (lomara) | 24 comments This isn't my usual genre either. I enjoyed the world Meljean Brook created so much i bought the next book in the series. I'm so glad I decided to join this group!

SesameG | 45 comments I totally agree, Jane and Kimberly - joining this group got me out of a baaad reading rut

Chickenstitch | 8 comments I couldnt agree more this club has really got me to expand my book horizons. I had no interest in romance books of any kind until i watch the hangout vids. I read Ill Wind first and was intrigued but after reading this book I'm hooked :-)

Josh (hexijosh) | 15 comments I just started Heart of Steel yesterday and am already really into it and am looking forward to the novellas (though I'm miffed that, in order to read Yasmeen's, I'll have to buy a reprint of the book of wait for an ebook release). I think I'll be sticking with this series for a while.

PointyEars42 | 476 comments Isn't Heart of Steel great?! The Iron Duke was my 1st steampunk & the book was ruined for me by Rhys (a character I would hate with the passion of a thousand burning suns if he weren't a dreary walking romance trope) and I now actively search out more of the genre. The VFH has gotten me out of my reading rut too and, even though I've had many, many, many issues with the selections, just to feel so strongly about my reading material again is worth the price of admission.

I've read the novella about Constable Newberry and am about halfway through Ivy Blacksmith's story... and I want to howl at the wait for Riveted. This anticipation is something I thought I'd forgotten how to feel for the next installment of the series. The quality just gets better and I'm amazed at how detailed and complete the short stories feel, so don't hesitate to get them. (Ditto Hope's Folly for the Vaginal Sci-Fi. Seriously)
