Looking at Lawrence P..."Clay Blair wrote a two book set on the U-boat actions in the Atlantic and one of the US actions in the Pacific. These are weighty books, both figuratively in the amount of information they provide and in reality in how thick they are. There is also Operation Drumbeat which is about the U-boats attacking the US shores.
Conner wrote: "Hello I am looking for books on the siege of malta and italian fighter aces."A good book on the siege of Malta is; "Fortress Malta: An Island Under Siege, 1940 - 43" by James Holland.
Fortress Malta: An Island Under Siege, 1940 - 43 by James HollandFor Italian aces I'd check some of the Osprey titles.

A cold corner of hell; the story of the Murmansk convoys, 1941-45.
Battle in the arctic seas : the story of convoy PQ 17
Or
The ghost ships of Archangel : the Arctic voyage that defied the Nazis
Read any of those?

This is a great free paper on the german uboats. It explains how they dealt with faulty torpedo for the first couple years of the war. It makes you wander how the outcome of the naval war would have been different if the germans had working torpedos. They missed some big opportunities to sink royal navy capital ships.
Im "flying" through Richard Evans Trilogy and looking for similar well researched and historically accurate book or series. already have Frank Mc Donough series ordered and also William Shirer/ Ian Kershaw books... any other author/s i should def add to my collection?
Check out Peter Caddick-Adams' set of books on the European theatre:
Sand & Steel: The D-Day Invasions and the Liberation of France
Snow & Steel: The Battle of the Bulge, 1944-45
Fire and Steel: The End of World War Two in the West by Peter Caddick-Adams
The British Admiralty set up an onshore psychiatric facility to "recycle" Royal Navy men who had broken down, back into naval service. The book, based on real events, is Sailor's Heart.
HMS Standard (Kielder Camp) in NE England, was where 842 men who had broken down at sea were received and "processed" between 1941-1944. Some men were never returned to duty.
The remains of HMS Standard now lie at the bottom of Kielder Dam, after the valley was flooded.
Conner wrote: "Hello I am looking for books on the siege of malta and italian fighter aces."Hi Conner. AR's recommendation of James Holland's book on Malta is spot on--fantastic book.
As for Italian aces, there are a few Osprey titles dealing with the subject, but here's a different one you might find interesting:
Macchi C.202 Folgore - Italy's Best Fighter of the Second World War
Joao wrote: "Im "flying" through Richard Evans Trilogy and looking for similar well researched and historically accurate book or series. already have Frank Mc Donough series ordered and also William Shirer/ Ian..."I'm getting ready to read the third volume in Ian Toll's Pacific War Trilogy and so far the first two have been excellent:
Pacific Crucible: War at Sea in the Pacific, 1941-1942
The Conquering Tide: War in the Pacific Islands, 1942–1944
Twilight of the Gods: War in the Western Pacific, 1944-1945Another excellent trilogy is Rick Atkinson's Liberation Trilogy dealing with the U.S. Army in Europe and the Mediterranean:
An Army at Dawn : The War in North Africa, 1942-1943
The Day of Battle: The War in Sicily and Italy, 1943-1944
The Guns at Last Light: The War in Western Europe, 1944-1945If you're looking for a Pacific counterpart to Atkinson's work, then this trilogy by John McManus is for you:
Fire and Fortitude: The US Army in the Pacific War, 1941-1943
Island Infernos: The US Army's Pacific War Odyssey, 1944
To the End of the Earth: The US Army and the Downfall of Japan, 1945
I have read some books on German Fighter Aces and I was wandering if anybody has found some books on specific German Fighter Units like JG 26 or JG 27

Maybe, some of you stumbled upon books on concentration/work camps in Estonia during the German occupation (1941-1944). I had a crazy idea of going deeper into the subject, searching for as much information as I can find and writing an article (though I don't have a proper education). The books can be in Russian, Estonian, English, German or Finnish

Dipanjan wrote: "I am looking for an authentic book on the role of British empire to ban Atlantic slave trade. Plz suggest me some books."Picking up on this, I would really like to know more about the East Africa slave trade and the RN's role in suppressing it. Any thoughts?

Hi all, any recommendations for books (preferably about the Soviets/Barbarossa) written in or translated into Korean?
Andrew wrote: "Hi all, any recommendations for books (preferably about the Soviets/Barbarossa) written in or translated into Korean?"So this is an article but it has some books listed at the end. The mostly seem to be in English but it might be a place to start looking

Here is the only book I found in my search that was in Korean, not specifically on the Eastern Front

Good luck, I hope you find what you're looking for.
Group member Scott has posted this request:Hello. I have been searching for an English-language biography about the WWII era Soviet Marshal, Semyon Timoshenko. The only thing I've found so far is a panegyric from 1942 by Walter Mehring, an obvious propaganda piece. But there's nothing I can find along the line of Stalin's General about Georgi Zhukov.
Anyone have any suggestions?
