Quite frankly, there is nothing wrong with reading books. I get these comments all the time "Why do you read so much?", "Nerd!" or "Put that book down and socialise!" (Yeh, that would be my mom.) Are you a nerd if you read alot? Does that make you a nerd?

NO!!!!!!! I get the same comments! I am most definitely not a nerd. I'm in all very above grade level classes, but I'm also friends with everyone. Sure, they know me for being smart, but I am not a nerd. It doesn't make you a nerd. My favorite bass guitarist's blog is called something like books, bass and ((I forget)). He's not a nerd. Haha. But being a nerd isn't bad, but not everyone who reads is a nerd!
no i dont think that just because you read a lot it will make you a nerd. Its a big no no.

i mean, if a nerd is someone who's smart, books can make you smarter, so i guess.
if a nerd is someone who's antisocial, than some people get so wrapped up in their books that they do become antisocial, so that can work too.

but most people think of nerds as the antisocial people so i dont think its right because there are a lot of book lovers out there who arent antisocial or introverted.

I think a nerd is something who is just really smart and prefers to be alone or stay with fellow nerds. He does not necessarily has to read a lot of books.
well there's different kinds of nerds, book nerds, science nerds, math nerds...
