Gene Wolfe did the same thing 20 years ago with his SOLDIER OF THE MIST and the subsequent novels of the same series. Wolfe did it first, and he did a much better job.

Does this necessarily mean that it isn't a good book though? You can say that about most books I guess - original ideas are hard to find.
Agree with Rachel. What I liked was that the book really drew me in. I liked the main character, and felt her pain & confusion as she struggled with piecing together her past. Tension? Yes, I felt it. The writing transcended its basis (Memento; amnesia theme; suspense genre, etc.)--at least in my opinion.
