Peng | 317 comments has anyone read the first book and then watched the first movie then read the second book and watch the second movie and so on and so forth...? that's what i'm doing now (coz there's no more book to wait for and the movie is way too long in coming) and i'm sure we can see the difference in them. care to compare and post them here for a discussion?

here's one:

in the first book, hermione did not repair harry's eyeglasses like in the movies. heck, they're not supposed to do magic outside the school, aren't they?

Meghan | 686 comments yeah, I did that a while ago. Another one is that Fred and Goerge pull Harry into room in side Hogwarts instead of outside when they give him the map. And the movies never even tell you who moony, wormtial, padfoot, and prongs are! That really stinks cause that is really important.

Kenzie They also haven't put in Pidwigeon to explain how Harry can go into Hogsmeade the next year.

Peng | 317 comments also in the first book hermione, harry, neville and draco got detention in the forbidden forest but in the movie it was ron, neville, draco & harry.

Peng | 317 comments i'm into book 2 now and in the book ron explained about the mudblood thingy that got him to curse draco (but rebounded on him) but in the movie, hermione explained it....

the books are longer and more detailed, and in the book, the maze in the triwizard tournament had monsters(and a sphinx), when the movie one didn't have squat!!

Veronica (v_a_b) The screwed up the fourth movie sooo much!!!! I'm pretty sure rita skiter was supposed to have red hair(although I'm not positive but that is how I pictured her) and have the ability to turn into a bug! But she was BLONDE and there wasn't anything about her being an animagus! And also the whole flirting with harry thing???? what was with that. They could have made her a B**** without that whole thing. And the maze was supposed to be on the qudditch field!!!! And, like Justin said, it was SUPPOSED to have monsters and spells!!!! I really wanted to see those blast ended screwts too! And they didn't even put them in anywhere!!!!I havn't seen the movie in a while but didn't neville give harry the gillyweed in the movie? ITS SUPPOSED TO BE DOBBY!!!! In the second challenge they are supposed to be at the edge of the lake and wade in, not jump off the dock!!! At the yule ball hermione's hair was supposed to be completely STRAIT!!! And don't even get me started one the first task! It was supposed to be in the woods, not the mountians, there was no escaping the rink, the tent was not enclosed in the mountain(again there was no mountains), the first aide tent was missing, and hermione did not visit harry in the tent before he went out! he was alone after the other champions left to fight thier dragons. And also the movie was completely different then my image which bothered me very much. Not one thing looked the same or even similar to how I pictured things. Now I know this is irrelevent to how much the screwed up the movie but it still bothers me! I could really go on forever but your probably getting tired of reading this so I'll stop. But still, it was totally wrong!!

message 10: by Peng (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:58PM) (new)

Peng | 317 comments yeah, peeves could be interesting. i'm also wondering why they made filch caught harry & ron in the 2nd movie in the great hall (when they arrived in the flying car) when in the book it was snape and the script in the book was really good! geeezzzz!

Peng | 317 comments i just wish they did all the quidditch scenes in the books. the finals in book 3 is really something!!! i love it when qryffindor won after 7 years. and jk wrote a blow by blow account of the game. besides it was just a short scene. wish they did it....

Peng | 317 comments in the 3rd movie harry found out all about sirius black wearing his invisibility cloak in a closed room when in the book it was just in the bar and hermione & ron heard it, too. also in the book they were allowed in madam rosmerta's bar but not in the movie...

Angela | 2 comments In the Order of the Pheonix the DA is really disappointing. It was probably one of my favorite parts of the books and they definitely don't go into it enough in the movies. Also in the movie Cho is the one who tells on the DA and gets them in trouble whereas in the book its her friend. And in the book Hermoine puts a curse on anyone who tells so that their face breaks out in boils or something which probably would've been cool in the movie. It just sucks that everyone hates Cho (not that I really liked her from the get go) and she didn't actually do anything in the book.

Mikael Short (mikaelshort) | 1 comments In the fourth movie (which they left out practically everything) they left out S.P.E.W.!! One- That's a huge thing that goes on in that book, starting with Winky and the kitchens. Two- its a vital part of Hermione's character (she's already messed up in the movies anyways). They didn't put house elves in at all! That's messed up. I say they put everything that's in the books to the movies... who cares if the movie is 4 hours long? ^.^

message 16: by Peng (new)

Peng | 317 comments i'm sure they have their reasons for doing such. i mean, not all movies based on books were exactly the same. but i am wondering why jk lets them get away with such editing.... the important parts are left out and there are some air time that are useless like giving filch in the movie a lot of scenes.... he's probably an important actor or something.
