ABANDONED. Psycho sister blames brother and makes him keep it secret

This is for a friend. She says she read a review of this book about 7 years ago and it was probably a NYT Bestseller kind of book, she thinks she might have read the review in People magazine. She did not read this book but wants to.

The story was about two siblings. The sister was a crazy psycho who killed someone (possibly their parents) and possibly the brother was blamed for it. Years later the brother wanted to tell the true story but the sister didn't want him to.

Hmm..This is around 2005 right, so I'm currently looking through a list of 2005 NYT Bestsellers. So far nothing about it. I'll be searching still of course. Do you know what genre it is? Fiction or nonfiction?

I believe she said it was fiction.
