Rayna | 1785 comments Well we are very fortunate that Amanda has agreed to give us Vamps-R-Us members a print copy of her newest book in her Rulers of Darkness series Caressed by Night!

Caressed by Night (Rulers of Darkness, #2) by Amanda J. Greene
Synopsis:
Dimitri Arsov, the last remaining pure vampire, was thought to be dead for the past four hundreds years. Now, he is back and has a score to settle with the traitor that had tried to kill him centuries ago. But as he waits for his prey to blindly step into his carefully laid trap, his overwhelming hunger for blood is triggered when he saves a beautiful art historian.

Kerstyn Ingmar’s life was normal and straight up boring until the night she is rescued by the dangerously sexy, powerfully mesmerizing, Dimitri. Unable to resist his diamond blue eyes and intense kisses, she is drawn into his world of darkness and closer to her impending doom.

While their desire consumes them, Dimitri is haunted by images of a bloody and deadly future. As his enemies draw near, he must find a way to save his mate from her destiny before fate destroys them both

Miguel Conner | 8 comments Couldn't send ditty since I have no friends. I did submit to Rayna before midnight, but here it is anyway. Reductionist, but need the balance these days if it's beyond Twitter parlay:

BORN AGAIN?

Learning to Fly
Sleep Underground
The difference in These,
Are no longer found.

Learning to Feed,
Teach widow to Cry.
Walking this Concrete
A twitch in my Eye

Laughing too Hard,
The Joke was on Me.
My wish for Eternity,
I cannot bear to See.

Lovely Nightmare by Tiffany

You haunt my every thought every dream;
I no longer know what's real and whats not
The frustration is too much, just makes me want to scream;

I wake in the morning to find you no longer there;
Wondering if things from the previous night were no more than a glorious dream
Or just a vicously, cruel, bloody nightmare;

I should run away in terror from the evil intent and danger that is always so evident in your souless eyes;
But when you embed yourself deeply inside of me its with pleasure that I scream out and cry;

This sweet, delicious, joyous extasy I feel;
My brain keeps telling me there is no way it could possibly be real;

I wake in a feverish, heedy sweat;
With puncture wounds on the inside of my thighs as opposed to my neck;

You come to me like a thief in the night;
Instead of the horror I should feel
All I feel is sheer lust instead of fright;

I have to be losing my mind;
For you leave no evidence of you
For that would be all too kind;

For now I must just be satisfied with you being my dangerous, deadly, glorious, lovely nightmare.

I Am Here by David

Who am I, and what has brought me here, year after endless year, but fear.
I do not live, I do not die. My soul emits no frozen cry of helplessness
or hopelessness. I spit in God’s almighty eye.
I do not beg for His release, I shall not search for humble peace
for I am past such mundane pleasure, and if you truly take my measure
you shall come to comprehend that for such as I, there is no end.

I am the wraith you sense at night by fleeting touch of passing flight,
the gurgle from a well, long dry, that you hear while passing by.
The empty chair your eyes see rock, the shaken sleep by ticking clock,
The distant dog with bark insistent, the alley cat with hiss resistant
to your narrow understanding.

Oh, I am here, dear one.
Search your closet. Peer under the bed before you rest your weary head.
It is well to control your fear, for it is fear that brought me here,
and it is fear that keeps me near to you.
It is your fear on which I feed. It is your fear that fills my need.
I love your fright in deepest night, cowering before my might.
I love it child, I truly do.
And in your heart, you love it too

Dwindle Away by Angela

The years were discerning in mounds of grey
Years of searching yet never such had been found
A succulent wisp I had no bound
Victorian era a sweet drink of rain yet still the dwindling remained
My soul was stained with destitute and pain

Centuries had come to and fro like the circular globe rotating in haste
A wish for you, my love, yet none to my taste
The sight of youth washed away though still I remained
Dwindling, dwindling in retched dismay until the air was blessed during the maze
As I beheld your face even through the cloudy haze

Was it so, Oh how I wondered in fluster and grieve
The streets were bare until you were reprieved
Yet dwindling I remained hovering in the darkness of days
I waited and waited until the next day
Time held no meaning, as it dwindled away

Death crept forward during the time I had been away
Such as a rose your beauty be stilled yet even so the dangers took hold
Each drop of blood drained with such succulent scent
What horror bestowed me to find you that way, your fading life was then my shame
Dwindling, dwindling, dwindling away

Eternal life amongst immortals such tragedy lied yet with your essence drifting I obliged
The searing sun, the roaring sea, nothing compared to the sweetness of thee
My love, my life how I awaited to find thee
Your will to survive kept the dwindle at bay
Yet in horror I silently wept as your life drifted further away

With each breath of air that remained I, myself continued to dwindle, dwindle away
Your delicate heart then beat no more though I dwindled once more
The sweet blush on your face was replaced by an alabaster state
I found myself confounded in your beautiful asylum
The smell of your waking breath swept across my face and life ever after was no longer a waste

Chocolate globes hidden under black lashes regarded my face
Such beauty were you, no, not a waste
My love had grown, deepened and wove
Concrete in your glory of no longer departing
My heart found refuge no longer in mourning

Harsh life retreated in you I’ve waited
Never shall I die for together we strive
With you by my side
Never will I dwindle and die
Dwindle away I will no longer abide

A Vampire poem by Mark

He dreamed
The air smoky
A minute past midnight
Seen through it
Her pale, chalk skin
brilliant, blood red lips
long elongated teeth
Her seductive appearance
unable for him to resist
Gliding towards him
He felt the sharp points of these teeth
Penetrate his neck

Winds of Eternity by RJsMommy

Discovery of the New World, across the frothy ocean
And within my pale flesh, ushered in novelty unknown.
Titillating wonders unceasingly unfurled in science and arts;
Possibilities abounded before my eyes and through my mind.
Poised at the beginning of eternity
The wind tousled my hair and giggled excitedly, “EVERMORE!”

Novelties tarnish as Industrialism destroys the unique,
Cities sprawling, sameness growing, chasing wonderment away;
Rapidly and yet stealthily, “more” becomes so much less.
Dreary, smog clouds enveloped the city and my soul.
Deliberating at the hub of a shifting culture
The wind stilled my breath and whispered hesitantly, “Evermore?”

Books of fiends and monsters populated the shelves,
Romanticized lives of passion, arrogance, and privilege
Eagerly consumed by a humanity starving for the exotic.
Seeking soothing solitude to brood yet relentlessly hunted.
Standing at the edge of a rejected and rejecting society
The wind chilled my heart and acknowledged resignedly, “evermore.”

Amidst the grey morning bustle of the docks,
Salty sea mist and sea terns’ caws fill my senses.
Suddenly vibrant color and flowery scents eclipse it all
And hope for Revolution and Renaissance of my soul blooms.
As I board a ship heading to a not so New World
The wind caresses my cheek and propels me enticingly, “Evermore…”

Rayna | 1785 comments oh....did i say i was going to post the winner right away!!!! Nah ill be back in a couple hours just to get the finalists a little antsy!

Rayna | 1785 comments Well i thought id get a bit more banter since some of the poets have been nagging me all the time....laugh

Your poem winner is......

Lovely Nightmare by Tiffany

Congrats lady i have sent your information to Amanda and your copy should be arriving shortly.

I have to say while reading the poems Amanda had a very difficult job. She stated that all were very good but Tiff's poem followed her third book very closely and that sealed the deal for her!

I am currently reading this literary masterpiece and those of you who dont have it yet should still pick it up! Ms. Greene is becoming one of my favorite paranormal authors!

Pick up Carressed by Night you will not be dissapointed!
