Have you ever noticed that out of all the books in the teen sections in the library, most of them seem to be either a chic-lit romance or a fantasy romance? Why are they so geared towards girls?

And, as a second thought, why would authors put a girl on the cover of books geared towards girls when they could totally put an attractive, solo guy?!

Irene (wingdesilverii) I think it is because publishers figure more girls read and that they could get girls to pick books up easier. Which, I think is false because just because guys aren't going to sit around in a public place and read doesn't mean they don't. I happen to know guys who appear to never read but they read all the time when they aren't playing sports. I also think that there are phases, sorta like styles in clothes. Something will be popular and then it won't be.

I have no clue.

That's actually an interesting question. There are a lot of girl YA authors out there. Not sure if there's a certain reason behind it though
