I read this book about 2 years ago and I believe it was recently published. I cannot remember the main character's name but she was a scottish girl that worked as a housekeeper. The mistress of the house turned up missing, the scottish girl had an abusive past. Her mother force her to join her prostitution business and this is what the girl was running from. Eventually she finds that her mother was killed runover by a train. Can you please help me to find the name of this book. Thanks

Sounds like Slammerkin by Emma Donoghue, but I'm not sure that's it, especially since the protagonist of that book is English, not Scottish.
