I had this series of hardcover picture book sized books when I was little (early 80's). The one I remember best was about Louis Pasteur, and the penicillin was imagined as little soldiers marching through a syringe. All of them had some value attached. I think Louis' was perseverance...maybe.

Oh, Maybe the "Value Of..." series? I did my first public speaking thingy on the Mayo Brothers book.
