Have you seen the John Wayne movie "The Quiet Man?" it was pretty silly and rather pointless but it was another fun rom com. ;) there was a line in it my sisters and I like- "And who taught ya' to be playin' 'patty-fingers' in the holy water?!" we die every time we hear it! XD
it was a cute movie. ;)

EEE!! I love that you included "You've Got Mail" in there. It's my favorite rom-com and the only one I like really - it just stands out for me. Because they talk about books! ;) I wish they'd talk about more books as well, and I love the 'wordy' aspect of this movie, the whole writing e-mails to each other, and both of them working with books, and OH I always wanted to work in a small bookstore like The Shop Around the Corner *SIGH* u_u One day, one day....

message 16: by LadyDisdain (new)

LadyDisdain And Tom Hanks, he's not exactly a stud muffin (*snort* did I just say 'stud muffin'?!) but there's something about him that's inherently attractive. Plus he's just a damn good actor. AAAhh, I LOVE THIS MOOOVVIEE!

message 17: by Sophie, The Romantic Moderator :) (new)

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod
And pride and prejudice is in it!! :D

message 18: by Sophie, The Romantic Moderator :) (new)

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod
It really is a good movie.... :D

message 19: by LadyDisdain (new)

LadyDisdain Exactly!! So basically, it's just the best movie ever :P Haha, maybe not but it's pretty close. Their relationship (Joe Fox's and Kathleen Kelly's) seem to be based on Darcy's and Lizzy's as well. And I always find it kind of ironic and darkly humorous that Joe Fox's dog is named Brinkley - kind of resonant of Bingley :S :P haha... I mean I never like it when Bingley's portrayed as spinelesss and to go to the extent of casting the dog in his spot, sort of, is maybe a bit much. Will have to hunt down Nora Ephron and ask her about that.

message 20: by Sophie, The Romantic Moderator :) (new)

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod
Oh my gosh!! Never thought of it like that!!! Thank you!!!! :) that is so funny!!
And yes I like Bingley and he shouldn't be portrayed as spineless!!

message 21: by LadyDisdain (new)

LadyDisdain Haha, no problem. I own it and watch it again and again so that gives me a lot of opportunities for observation :D

message 22: by Sophie, The Romantic Moderator :) (new)

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod
;) sounds like me with all the Jane Austen's. Watched three today as off from school and needed to feel better ;)and it worked :D

message 23: by LadyDisdain (new)

LadyDisdain Haha, nice! I've only got the 2 latest adaptations of P&P and Emma and I need more because they're not enough to satisfy me when I'm on an Austen binge.

so glad you ladies are enjoying this discussion so much. I did notice that a rule was broken in one comment, and as I don't plan on rashly deleting members for possibly(*benefit of the doubt*) misunderstanding the rules, I would just ask that all members refrain from using cuss words. I'd like to keep this an "all-age friendly" group and wouldn't want to spoil it with bad language. thanks & enjoy. ~That Crazy Moderater<3

That would be EPIC!!! Too bad Jane Austen isn't alive too, huh?;)

message 40: by LadyDisdain (new)

LadyDisdain ^ I know!! I adore Austen. I think she would have rocked. Guess the next best thing is to just read her letters - you get to know more of her that way.

message 41: by Sophie, The Romantic Moderator :) (new)

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod
Yes i wish she was still alive and could talk to her about her books... but then she would have written later and wouldn't be so ... nice and lovely (:S) with all the manners etc :)
but yes! RG would be awesome ;)
