The third and final installment of the Bakkian Chronicles takes place roughly four years after the events of Bakkian Chronicles, Book II - Insurrection.

The Nohrin have been attacked on their world. How? By whom? How did someone manage a teleportation from Lentari to Earth? Eager to discover how this came to pass, they revisit Lentari to confront the problem head-on.

Epic battles, a surprise wyverian visit to Earth, and the ultimate showdown with a sorceress are just a few of the reasons why you shouldn't miss the third and final chapter in the Bakkian Chronicles!

------------------

Progress is coming along nicely! I just don't seem to find the time to write as much as I'd like. :)

Wyverian is an excellent word.

Any goal set for release?

Want to know the best way to proofread your work? Read it out loud to your spouse. Calmly and slowly, making sure to enunciate each word. I guaran-damn-tee you that you'll catch mistakes.

Case in point, I read the most recently finished chapter of Book III to my wife, and she actually turned to me and said, and I quote, "You proofread this, right?"

Dude, there was so many mistakes, typos, etc., that I cringed each time I read one out loud. Some were my trademark WTF moments, as in WTF was I thinking writing that part...

Red highlighter for typos, green for grammatical errors, and blue for WTF. I had a lovely polychromatic hard copy of that chapter when I was done. **sigh**

B. Throwsnaill (bthrowsnaill) | 208 comments That's great advice, Jeff. I like the color coded highlighting idea. I've used the Word text to speech option in the past, but it put me to sleep. Hadn't thought of reading it aloud to someone else.

message 8: by Jeffrey, Lentarian Fire Thrower (new)

Jeffrey Poole (authorjmpoole) | 2287 comments Mod
It works. Forces you to not skip ahead since you, as the author, already know what is gonna happen next.

She is the biggest help to me. She catches typos, points out plot holes, and possibly the best ever, she suggests fixes for said plot holes. :)

message 9: by B. (new)

B. Throwsnaill (bthrowsnaill) | 208 comments That's excellent that you two share like that! I'll have to tell my wife that she's not holding up her end of the bargain. Then again, on second thought...maybe I won't do that. ;-)

message 10: by Sky (new)

Sky Corbelli | 114 comments My wife also takes the first pass at my books, finding missed words, typos, or just highlighting sections to let me know that my word choice was lame.

Ok, blatant plot holes plugged, typos fixed, snafu WFT moments resolved. Work progresses on the next chapter... The dragon battle!

Sky, you're building my case to approach my spouse and request more comprehensive editorial services!

message 14: by Emil (new)

Emil Girardin (girardin) | 1 comments Always a pleasure to read an author whose works aren't littered with distracting typos/malapropisms/grammatical errors/etc. Jeffery, I especially enjoyed the first two books in the Bakkian Chronicles series. After reading a few other "free" starter books, it was pleasantly refreshing to read your works without the distractions of a myriad of typographical errors. The intrigue and fun of the story made up for the very minor error upon which I stumbled.

I cannot wait to read the next installment in these Chronicles!

Thanks so much! The review you left totally made my day, by the way! I'm so very glad you enjoyed them!

I can tell you that it looks like Book III will be longer than Book II. :)

Ok, now that I'm officially back from taking a few days off for my birthday it's full steam ahead for BC #3. I'm approaching my 2nd dragon battle and am already working out the details for the final battle with Celestia...

Plus, I've already sketched out a good chunk of the next book I'll be working on. And, my wife has suggested several interesting storylines that would make awesome books in the Bakkian Chronicles world. Which one to develop next? Hmmmm.... Man, I love being an author!!

Latest chapter is with the wife. Egads can she find plot holes galore. Just missed a big one about the aftermath of the dragon battle.

Back to ye olde salt mines for that chapter...

Very excited to see the third book is progressing nicely. Looking forward to this one for sure.

message 21: by Martin (new)

Martin Gibbs I haven't been around for awhile, since I'm doing the same thing Jeffrey. I'm glad to hear you are progressing well and the end is in sight! The third one sure can be a toughie, that's for sure.

message 22: by Jeffrey, Lentarian Fire Thrower (new)

Jeffrey Poole (authorjmpoole) | 2287 comments Mod
Hi Martin -

The third one is definitely a buggar, that's for certain. Gotta make sure I don't leave any plot holes, my grammar is good, etc. I know I've said this in the past, but I'll say it again. I'm so very thankful my wife can spot plot holes better than I can and most of the time she gives suggestions on what I can put in there to patch 'em up. :)

Book III is coming along nicely! It's so damn hot here right now (112 today) that I spend all my time indoors. Perfect opportunity to get a lot of writing done!!

Finish line is definitely in sight! I've contacted the artist who did the covers for my other two books to see if she'd like to take on the third. I hope so. If she's too busy then it'll be a mad dash to find someone else, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

message 24: by Martin (new)

Martin Gibbs That is great to hear, hopefully you can keep the same artist. Now that this series is wrapping up, have you got anything on the horizon?

message 25: by Jeffrey, Lentarian Fire Thrower (new)

Jeffrey Poole (authorjmpoole) | 2287 comments Mod
Hi Martin. Let's see. I do have another book lined up. Will have to flesh it out and see what type of storyline I can come up with.

And, believe it or not, I have about three other books lined up in the BC universe. They don't really pertain to the Bakkian Chronicles story, with Mikal and the Nohrin, but it will be set in the same world.

And, just an fyi, I did manage to contact FalyneVarger, who did my other covers. She will be taking on book III's cover. Have already sent her my design ideas. Should be really cool!!

Big J

The cover has been finished. Title graphics are being worked on right now. Woo-hoo! It looks great!

message 28: by B. (new)

B. Throwsnaill (bthrowsnaill) | 208 comments So when's the unveiling of the cover?

message 29: by Jeffrey, Lentarian Fire Thrower (new)

Jeffrey Poole (authorjmpoole) | 2287 comments Mod
I've been wondering about that. I was planning on keeping the cover completely secret and unveil it once the book has been released.

I might be persuaded into creating a "protected" page on my blog and show a select few. :)

Haven't really decided yet. Besides, I'm still waiting for the guy working on the title graphics to finish. Should be any day now.

Oh! Adam, right?? I was thinking, Ohio? What does he mean by that? Someone finally switched on the light upstairs.

My friend, Jamie (Lia), met her husband in Ohio. Crazy, huh? :)

Jeffrey Poole (authorjmpoole) | 2287 comments Mod
Scott - repaired the "choppiness" at the end of chapter 6 and 7 to make it flow more smoothly. The conversation between Sarah and Lia is no longer overlapping. End of chapter 5, they vanish. Chapter 6 is Sarah's POV, up until she sees a light on in the house. I cut the chapter off there. Chapter 6 begins with Steve & Pryllan. Shows what happens to them.

I can send you the updated chapters if you'd like.

How about this for a blurb?

Everyone’s worst fears are realized: Celestia is alive! Complicating matters is the evil sorceress has managed to reach across time and space and attack Mikal on his protector’s home world.

Realizing they can no longer keep the future king safe, Steve and Sarah escort Mikal back to Lentari to not only determine the best course of action, but also to verify the king and queen haven’t become targets themselves.

Much to their chagrin, they learn that all is not well with Mikal’s home world. Dragon raids are on the rise. The dwarves are preparing to go to war. Both are human allies. Coincidence?

Their only hope to save Mikal from Celestia and her minions lies with the recovery of a piece of an ancient talisman believed lost centuries ago. Unfortunately, another piece has already been found.

Dragons in distress. Troubles with trolls. Don’t miss the exciting final chapter in the Bakkian Chronicles!
