Flipreads | 21 comments The 2011 Nebula Award Nominees have been released:

What do you think of these novels/stories/shows?

Weenie | 21 comments What's the difference between a 'novella' and a 'novelette'?

Laurel Mojica | 4 comments From their website (with a little digging)
For the purposes of the Nebula Awards:

* Short Story: less than 7,500 words;
* Novelette: at least 7,500 words but less than 17,500 words;
* Novella: at least 17,500 words but less than 40,000 words
* Novel: 40,000 words or more.
* At the author’s request, a novella-length work published individually, rather than as a part of a collection, anthology, or other collective work, shall appear in the novel category.

The only one that I've read in all categories was God's War, and I think it's a well deserved nomination.

Kenny Chaffin (kennychaffin) | 96 comments Being a 'forever' SF reader and sometimes writer I'm always interested in both the Nebulas and the Hugos. Short stories are my favorite, but it is hard/expensive to read all of them up front. Not sure if there is an anthology for these out yet or not. ... ah here it is, but will not be published until the week of the actual awards. :(

Amazingly, looks like many of the nominated stories are on line though! Yea!!
