I appreciated Washington's willingness to protect Tories and his insistance that the British be denied the customary honors of a surrendering army because Clinton had denied the American army those honors when it had surrendered to him at Charleston. Particularly interesting to me was the friendly intercourse that took place after the surrender between the English and French officers due to their upper class commonality juxtaposed to the somewhat strained relationship that had existed between French and American officers.
