Harold Titus (haroldtitus) | 25 comments I appreciated the information that contrasted Lafayette and Rochambeau. The incompetence of Admiral Arbuthnot and General Clinton that accounted for the British's failure to strike a telling blow against the French at Newport is similar to that of Gage, Howe, and Admiral Graves earlier in Boston. I believe Richard Ketchum includes too many names of and bits of information about secondary people in his narration. It dissipates focus and deadens interest, in my opinion.

Usually I don't mind an author mentioning many names, but this chapter did suffer from overload. In particular, there was the section about Arnold's request of Washington. I had to read that section more than a few times to understand it...although that could've been a function of reading late at night!
