Sarah (sarahj) Hello
I'm wondering what we mean when we say "contemporary" - are we talking last 20 years, last 10, since 2000 ...?

Antonia (toniclark) Poetry written in my lifetime! That's roughly what I think of as contemporary. But it might depend on the context. In some cases, one might mean poets writing today. I'd be interested in what others think.

Donald (donf) What contemporary would mean to me in the context of American Poetry would be after World War 2. Since the
event was so tumultuous AND because it produced so many
fine poets -both veterans and conscientious objectors, I
would use that as the dividing line.
