So, what books of Louisa May Alcott's have you all read, and which ones are your favorites?
I added some books to the bookshelf, although I haven't read all the ones I posted...

Melody (Mellie) | 4 comments I've read
Little Women
Little Men
Jo's Boys
Under the Lilacs
An Old Fashioned Girl

My favorites were An Old Fashioned Girl, Little Women, Little Men, and Under the Lilacs. I'd like to read Jack and Jill now, after all the reviews.:) Is it at all like Under the Lilacs?

message 16: by Sam (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:46PM) (new)

Sam | 9 comments No, not really. It's about older children...and it ends with them as young adults. I like the "messages" in it better than the ones in 'Under the Lilacs'.

message 17: by Abigail (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:46PM) (new)

Abigail | 2 comments I'v read
Little Women
Little Men
Jo's Boys
Old Fashioned Girl
Under the Lilacs
Jack and Jill
Eight Couisons
Rose and Bloom
The Inheritance

My Favarite is Old Fashioned Girl, and Little Men.
What do you all think of A Long Fatal Love Chase, I'v never heard of it till now, it dosn't sound very much like a typical Louisa May Alcott.

Sarah Jane (SarahJaneAKA-Amy) | 20 comments Mod
I've never read A Long Fatal Love Chase, but I don't think I want too! It doesn't sound too nice! ;-) (And I happen to know that it doesn't have my "Happy endings" that I love in books! hehehe ;-)).

Abigail | 2 comments Thats what I thought when I first saw the title, I don't think I want to read it.

message 20: by Sam (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:47PM) (new)

Sam | 9 comments If you remember from "Little Women" how Jo March wrote those melo-dramatic stories? Well, "A Long Fatal Love Chase" was one of those kinds of stories. I, quite honestly, did not like it. It made no point to me. :)

Susan | 4 comments I didn't even know I was in this group ??? lol, till I saw it in my "My groups" box :D

I have read Little Women, Little Men, Jo's boy's, An Old fashioned Girl, Eight Cousins,
Rose in Bloom and a short story, but I can't remember the name, it was really weird though! :)

Well, it's nice to have you Susan! :-) Hehe!

Yeah, some of her short stories were weird! Like Cupid and Chow Chow... I think that was the name... I don't know if I ever read the whole thing, but it always seemed a little strange to me...

message 24: by Melody (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:49PM) (new)

Melody (Mellie) | 4 comments I did read one of her Christmas short stories, which was pretty good... has anyone heard of or read the mysteries that just came out (I think...) that were written by her?

message 25: by Victoria (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:49PM) (new)

Victoria | 1 comments I feel bad for saying this but I have only read three of her books !
I have read:
Little Women
Little Men
Jo's Boys
I will have to work on my L.M. Alcott !
I really want to read An Old Fashioned Girl , on another forum some people were talking about it and it sounds wonderful ! I was not aware that she had written so many.
A Fatal love chase " sounds very uncharacteristic of her. Hmmmmm.

message 29: by Susan (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:54PM) (new)

Susan | 4 comments Hmmmm, well I didnt like how the "Prince" was killed in the Rose in bloom book! to sad :'( I hope I've got the right book! it has been a couple months since I've read those books! but I do like who she ends up marrying! :)

message 30: by Sarah Jane (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:55PM) (new)

Sarah Jane (SarahJaneAKA-Amy) | 20 comments Mod
Yeah, that was sad! Although I was glad that she didn't marry him, or brake his heart, so I guess that that would fix it! I was glad she married Mac! :-)

message 31: by Sam (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:55PM) (new)

Sam | 9 comments Quite honestly, I didn't like Mac. I much preferred the Prince. :P lol.

message 32: by Sarah Jane (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:56PM) (new)

Sarah Jane (SarahJaneAKA-Amy) | 20 comments Mod
:-P Interesting! What was it that you didn't like about Mac? :-) (Just wondering? :-)). Or maybe I should also ask, what was it about the prince that you did like? (Anyone else is welcome to answer these questions! :-)). And I guess I could also add for anyone who is interested in responding, What DID you like about Mac? And what DIDN'T you like about the Prince? :-)

message 33: by Sam (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:56PM) (new)

Sam | 9 comments Well, I just thought Mac was so boring. lol. I would want an interesting husband. A husband, with just a tad bit of "wickedness" in him, as Anne Shirley would say. The Prince had that "wickedness". His character was interesting! He wasn't dull! :)

message 34: by Susan (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:56PM) (new)

Susan | 4 comments What I didn't like about the Prince was that he was very "Marry me or Else!" :)

LOL

I guess you are right :D

message 37: by Melody (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:59PM) (new)

Melody (Mellie) | 4 comments To answer your question, Sarah Jane, I don't know what the mysteries were called, but everyone is saying they just came out... I saw somewhere that they were just "discovered." (?)

Faith, my younger sister, read Rose In Bloom, and told some to me... I'd like to read both the first and that one sometime! She said they're really good, but I've been trying to get school done. (20 or so books to go!:D)

message 42: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (CatherineMorland) | 1 comments Hey Y'all! I realized I've never posted on here, so I thought I'd go ahead and do it. :-)

Here's the books that I've read by her. Some of them I haven't read in years so I can't remember all the details...

An Old Fashioned Girl
Little Women
Little Men
Jo's Boys
Eight Cousins
Rose in Bloom
The Inheritance
A Long Fatal Love Chase
Under the Lilacs
Jack and Jill

I think that my favorite was probably An Old Fashioned Girl...but I'm not sure. :-) It think it's time for me to do a bit of re-reading. :-)

I wasn't too fond of "A Long Fatal Love Chase" though, as somehow I kept wanting her to marry the "bad guy". Why couldn't I learn to like the character of the "good guy"? I have no idea. He just seemed kind of goofy to me. And it wasn't like he was planning on marrying her anyway. So why not just go for the guy who loves you? :-) Awful, awful moral, I know, but that's how Long Fatal Love Chase came across to me. Generally the author makes me like the person I'm supposed to like. I guess I just felt like I didn't know the "good guy" very well. Ah well. :-)

Anyways, that's my two cents. :-)

Eyebright I have read:

Little Women
Jo's Boys
Little Men
Eight Cousins
Rose In Bloom
Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill is almost my favorite, except that I also love Little Women, and Rose In Bloom! Oh, I can't decide! I tried to read Under the Lilacs, once, and just couldn't get into it. I should try it again. I should try to read all of the rest of her books, too!

Edited to add: My favorite has to be Jack and Jill. I just decided that. :D
