I try to read all sorts of books, but I mostly read contemporary fiction and international fiction.

I really enjoy books about food and books that take place in India/Pakistan.

Clare | 21 comments I enjoy contemporary fiction especially books from a woman's or young girl's point of view. I just finished The Usual Rules by Joyce Maynard. I picked it up from my local library for $1.00 (they have a couple of shelves of donated books for sale). I enjoyed it very much and recommend it highly. I have followed Maynard's career since she started writing as a teenager. She's an interesting woman (I think she lived with J.D. Salinger for a while!) who has evolved into a fine writer.

I'd say contemporary fiction for me too but I also love memoirs. I'm not really settled into a book right now which happens to me from time to time. I've got a few going right now, "The Almost Moon" by Alice Sebold, "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" "An Unquiet Mind" by Kay Redfield Jamison (memoir) and last night I started "Sushi for Beginners" by Marian Keyes. I'm hoping I'll get hooked on one book soon, right now I'm not that into any of them which is why I keep bouncing around. Oh and I also started "Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict" my sister sent it over for me.

Sharon I love contemporary fiction the most, especially if it takes place in NYC or London. I sometimes like thriller/mystery...I'm enjoying the books by Kathy Reichs.

Victoria Sandbrook (vsandbrook) I'm all about classic literature, though it's probably because I just finished an English Lit major, and I'm still hooked on what I know. I tend not to pick up contemporary fiction, but when I do I love it. Any ideas on how to get out of the heavy-lit run and into books of the here-and-now?
