Only about 100 pages into my ghost story pick....
From now till the end of April I will be working upwards of 65+ hours a week but I will still have my reading time I just wont be online and commenting...
jade sorry for your loss...{{{hugs}}}
Hope everyone else is doing fine.....
Have a great week coming up...

In other news - I won an ARC of Stephanie Tyler's Dire Needs today. I'm really excited about it, everyone in my house is sleeping though and I can't tell them, so I will just tell you all instead :)
Zina, I hope work isn't too stressful!

Zina, just think of the extra money to buy more books. LOL"
Thanks Sandra, add it to the signed Kresley Cole & Lara Adrian books I won earlier this month and I'm on a roll :)

ummm... it was ok...
I liked it, I really did, but it's just that... it was sooo annoying to keep reading about Mama Ginger and Jane's family, why can't she be a scary-kick-ass vampire once?
I understand it doesn't go with the character but what about Gabriel?, he's an old vampire, why can't he be a bad ass boyfriend instead of a jerk?
bah!
if I was a vampire I wouldn't be a push over!

I hope your next book is better :)

Kara Gillian is a Homicide Detective and a Demon Summoner who inardvertently got herself attached to a Demon Lord. Rhyzkahl, the Demon Lord, has supplied Kara with a Demon bodyguard and it turns out to be a good thing as Kara is being attacked from all sides. We join her a few weeks after the events in Secrets of the Demon and Kara is currently being hunted by another Summoner, demons and people who have harmed Kara in the human world are dropping dead. Is it natural causes or is the Arcane (magic, demons etc) involved and if so - is it someone trying to frame her for murder? or someone who thinks they are doing her a favour?
As always Diana has managed to seamlessly fuse the world of a Police Detective with the Paranormal and I didn't put the book down from start to finish! I find myself really invested in Kara as a person, as a character she's really growing through the series and considering everything that gets thrown at her - she's still standing! I love the fact that she's not unaffected by everything, she gets battered - emotionally and physically, yet she doesn't give up.
This remains one of my favourite Urban Fantasy series even with the killer cliffhanger endings! GRRRR!!! I'll be pre-ordering the next one for sure :)

Book 3 in the Charley Davidson series.
Charley is a Private Investigator who also happens to be the Grim Reaper. I don't want to spoil this for anyone who hasn't read the first two books but what I will say is Charley cracks me up, she has such a fun personality and ADD so her trains of thought often leave me in stitches! Reyes is amazingly sexy and I just LOVE it when he is on the page!
I can't wait for the next one :)

3.5 stars
Liked it very much - it is "addictive"! It is amazing how much this author seems to know about addiction. It is crazy. I like the dark, gritty storyline - this is my first scary ghost story and it did it's job! I was turning on lights and couldn't read very much at a time. I don't know if it was because of the sudden jumps (I need more transitions) in the story from place to place, or if I was being a wimp - but I would have like to have more background info about Chess and Terrible. I think I would have been more accepting of their situations. Loved the scene where Terrible casual approaches Doyle with a tire iron and when Doyle turns to run. Terrible tosses the tire iron and trips him up and then Terrible proceeds to kick the living shit out of Doyle! He had it coming... Then I loved it when Terrible says: "Aye, I had a dame bite me once..." It was his response to Chess when she asked about one of the worst things that had happened to him. I will be reading on...

You crack me up!

You should really try them Katie, don't judge them on the first book though. They get better!
Jade, looking forward to seeing how much you enjoy Eric...

I'm curious if you feel any different reading this one after watching True Blood S4. Have you seen it?

And yes Bill....ummmmm! In season 1 when he 1st comes on the scene I like him and his gentlemanly ways, then as the season goes on I end up wanting
to stake him lol. He just changes into a total arrogant, manipulative moron :(

I think of them seperately too or I would be really angry, I don't like either Bill. Tv Alcide is much better than book Alcide!

Werewolves and Daimons, and bears, oh my! This is a story full of blood, fangs, gods, god-bolts, new characters, drool worthy guys, feisty heroines, hints to future alliances and stories, were-hunters, dream-hunters and more.
It's smart, red-hot sexy, side-splitting funny and heart-wrenchingly poignant. SK's imagination is wonderful, but it is her ability to create the most vivid, laugh-out-loud humor to relieve the well-drawn tension that had me begging more more. SK has created a world that will leave you breathless and wanting to spend a lot of time in New Orleans. I am definitely going to go on a quest to find Sanctuary.
Talon is a dark hunter (sort of a vampire who only kills the real vampires), Sunshine is a left-over, lovable hippie, and together . . . all I can say is wow!
It's like they are Dharma and Greg of the Dark Hunter world. I absolutely loved this book.
I liked the character of Sunshine Runningwolf. The fact that she's not a standard romance heroine (i.e. a perfect size 6 and obsessing about her weight, wanting to get married before the age of 30), is actually refreshing. I also love the fact that like many of Ms. Kenyon's female leads, they are sexually liberated women. they have no problems oogling and lusting over a good-looking man.
Talon is yet another one I wouldn't kick out of my bed for eating crackers (and he does). Just the descriptions of him dressed in his trademark leathers was enough for me to grab a fan. I don't even mind that he keeps two crocodiles as pets and prefers living in the swamp.
His story, like most of th Dark-Hunters is one of vengeance and redemption, but in the hands of a skilled writer it doesn't turn into a hackneyed plot device. Talon has to find his own way to freedom, and it's enough to tear my heartstrings.
Of course, I've fallen madly in love with the just borderline psychotic Zarek. The exchanges between him and Nick are priceless. Perfect choice of music for Zarek to listen to, 'Hair of the Dog' by Nazereth.
It was nice to revisit old friends like Kyrian and Julian again. Acheron even comes off as a bit more human (the nose ring was a great touch), and I can't wait to read his story.

Glad you liked it! Zarek is one of my favourites and Acheron is such a good book - in part because of the build up to getting to know him better.

thank God it's almost Tuesday, oh God, what a week!!
I'll be reading Shadowfever for this week's shelf...hopefully will finish it before Saturday

Sorry your week sucked, hopefully you'll have a better week this week.
I loved Shadowfever, enjoy! :)

What a strange Book.........(SPOILERS)
I picked this book up firstly because I loved the cover. I started reading and was immediately like WTF?? it is all over the place, I kept loosing track of what was happening.
Basically the book is based around Sylvie Davis a ballerina who has recently broken her leg, which put an end to her career. Struggling to cope with this, her fathers recent death and her mothers new marriage, She is shipped off by her mother and step father to stay with her Cousin Paula who is currently in the process of renovating an old family house, where her father spend every summer as a child.
Instead of helping Sylvie recover, she starts to suspect she is going mad seeing apparitions and hearing strange noises. To add to this she finds herself in a love triangle with Shawn and Rhys both of whom she can't seem to stay away from. It would appear that there is some dark family history that she needs to uncover....
As I said previously I didn't really enjoy this book, at the end I was just left with the feeling of...what have I just read? The basic plot idea was ok and I liked the main character Sylvie a quite refreshingly mature 17 year old when it comes to the romance part of the book. And you definitely can't but help love the her pet dog Gigi who plays a big part in the book. The book is extremely dark in places.
But unfortunately I kind of feel like I wasted precious time reading it.

Current status-
Katie still has her Free Space book to read and I know you are all working on your favourite series... Happy reading everyone! Keep up the good work :)

Indeed....as you know he never bores me!! And I agree about TV Alcide DING-DONG!! loved him in One Tree Hill too :)

Hope your enjoying it!

While reading this book I kept flipping back and forth as to whether I was enjoying this story. I really was looking forward to Zarek's story and I was not disappointed. Zarek the tortured hero, Sasha the were-hunter companion of Astrid who has to either condemn Zarek to 'death' or save him and of course Simi. Who can leave out that adorable barbeque eating demon. I laughed so hard at times and then at other times I wanted to cry.
Zarek is truly special. Trapped in an existance where everyone hates him (but not as much as he hates himself), Zarek expects to be killed any minute for mistakes he has made in the past. He almost welcomes death as a means to escape his isolated, lonely situation, but instinct keeps him fighting back whenever anyone does try to finish him off.
Thank goodness, because that gives Astrid the chance to come into his life, and they are so great together. She is able to find the goodness deep inside him and make him realize he is not only capable of being loved, but of loving in return.
What I liked best about this pair is that they fall in love before making love. Not that I can't appreciate hot sex scenes that begin in lust and eventually turn to lovemaking, but it was a nice change of pace that love came first this time.
I also really appreciated the time that Astrid and Zarek got to spend trapped in her cabin, so that I got to know their characters better without the confusion of too many other gods, goddesses, vampires, demons and such butting in. Of course they all descend en masse eventually, but by then I had my whopping dose of (dare I say it) good old fashioned boy-meets-girl romance.
It also gives more glimpses into the complicated sexual and unhealthy relationship between Acheron and Artemis. The addition of Ash's loveable demon Simi adds a comic delight to this story. Just adored Simi. Hope she makes more appearances.
