Kathy | 233 comments Having finished the at-risk titles on my own list, last night I worked on books from the French publisher Editions Gallimard, mostly titles by English-speaking authors whose works had been translated. (FYI, This page provides links to detailed edition information, including ISBN, for all of the firm's authors.)

As with my own at-risk books, I provided the title, author, binding type, or whatever was requested in the rescue form. However, I see on checking my list of edits that in each case, the existing French plot summary was deleted and the binding type changed from the French to the English term. Do I need to go back to my edit list tonight and Undo every one of the extra deletes/changes, or might that be re-adding Amazon.fr data that would put the books back at risk?

It's best to have the binding in English, since the format filter on the edition pages only recognizes the formats in the dropdown.

As far as the description, if it came from Amazon (likely if rescuing the book removed it), please do NOT add it back -- unless you have another source, such as the actual book.

Thanks, Rivka. I had changed back three titles before it occurred to me to ask that question. I'll go back and fix those three again right away.

Tip for re-sourcing book descriptions: if you have a description from an Amazon source but you think that it's actually from the publisher, put the first sentence or two of the description into Google and look for publisher pages which include it. Much faster than trying to Google the publisher and navigate their website, especially if you don't speak the language well!
