Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Have you tried It's at: ==>

It's free and they play only the kind of music you like. It's like having your own private radio program online. No commercials. I love it!

It makes surfing the net and being online an even greater pleasure!

Each time they play a song, you can tell them whether you like it or not by checking a box. From then on, they play the type of music you've chosen. It may not be the exact song, but it's similar in mood and orchestration. It's quite incredible! Sooner or later you hear some of your most favorite songs.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) | 6329 comments I tried Pandora a couple of years ago when it first came out. Interesting to listen to. I found a couple of new artists that way. It's a nice variety, too. Cool way you can make up lists & tweaking them is fun.

Unfortunately, our bandwidth at work won't take too many people streaming music & such, so I had to stop it for all. Since I make the rules, I have to follow them.

I'd really like to listen to it at home, but we don't have high speed Internet, just dial-up. I can't get into my Gmail with that half the time, much less stream music.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Jim - What a shame that you have only dial-up! I've already taken our wireless for granted... but I still remember the horrible whining sound of the dial-up while connecting. How can anyone ever forget that new form of torture. :) I hope it soon will be relegated to things of the past.

Today I heard "Yellow Days" at Pandora. What a great recording. You can hear a bit of it at the following website:

The webpage says:
Features Of This Song:
a mid-tempo dance style
light drumming
acoustic piano accompaniment
major tonality
I like seeing those specific descriptions which Pandora makes available. It encourages more informed listening.

Will your area of Frankfort, Kentucky, be getting cable internet anytime soon?
I guess I should count my blessings here.

"Hold onto your music. It will be your best friend in life."
-Heard on VPR Radio, 5/9/03 - Pianist /author, Mona Golabek, said it was advice given by her grandmother to her mother.

Golabek's book is:
_The Children of Willesden Lane_
("A memoir of music, love and survival")
The quote in the book is:
"Music will give you strength...
It will be your best friend in life."

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments P.S. Below is a link to Golabek's book (which I mentioned above):_The Children of Willesden Lane_ ("A memoir of music, love and survival").

I was unable to create a book-cover-link. That feature doesn't always work.
