It ended up as 1098.And, alas, you didn't win. Some lucky girl in Mauritius has won!
Thanks to everyone for their interest!
Currently working on an older YA book (light fantasy), with little escapades into the background for a futuristic dystopian series, and also working on a short story (parody). Is it just me that manuscript hops? ;)
p.s. I've updated the opening page to include A Splendid Salmagundi.
Hehe.Amazon still have not got back to me about emailing customers about the 3rd edition update to Serpent. I'm sure it must've been 4 weeks... :(
I thought I might provide some links here to a few recent or ongoing discussion threads on Amazon where it'd be great, and highly relevant, to mention The Serpent in the Glass ;)If anyone finds time to do so, I'd be very grateful! Please do read the original poster's question before posting. Thank you :)
I finished the Harry Potter Series with my 9yr-old - what do we read now???

Think I'd rather stick a pencil in my eye than spend time in amazon forums...Sorry. I'm very tired and rather grumpy.
I don't think it's my scene Darren, and I'm not yet ready to give in and go to Gransnet!Hmmmm. More pleasure....
Recently I gave away a signed copy of The Serpent in the Glass. Now I'm giving away 2 more! Enter both contests to win my paperback or one of around thirty other paperbacks! http://www.writers-and-publishers.com...
I gave a copy of The Serpent in the Glass to my local library the other day. I was expecting some kind of question or criteria to be presented, but they just took it and thanked me for my generosity! :)
Sometimes I like to write very silly things. Here's one I wrote recently and though I'd “The dark arts are not for the faint-hearted. No, if you are to become a dark lord you will need absolute commitment and the most dogged determination. You will need to keep going no matter what the cost, if you truly wish to reach that envied position!”
“Sir?”
The tutor broke from his monologue. “Yes, what is it? Williams, isn’t it?”
“Ah, yes, sir. It was just that I wondered how many hours that would involve, per week I mean?”
The tutor frowned. “Many hours, young man. Why do you ask?”
“It’s my pottery lessons.”
“Pottery lessons?”
“Yes, sir. I have them every Wednesday night, but I like to do my own stuff at home, too.”
A weak smile flickered across the tutor’s face. “Well, I’m sure you can fit that in with a bit of planning. And speaking of planning, that is what we shall turn to next. Now, a dark lord needs to plan well ahead. His plots must be watertight.”
“Like in pottery, sir. Our pots need to be watertight,” Williams said.
“No, plots, Williams, not pots.”
“Oh, sorry.”
The tutor carried on. “And a well-thought-out plot will gain a dark lord much if he manages to pull it off.”
“So does he plan these plots or plot plans? I always wondered that.”
“Williams, I think that’s a matter of semantics.”
The boy frowned. “No, I don’t think so. I’ve studied ceramics and –”
“Williams, shut up!”
It is said that from little acorns grow mighty oaks. However, unless one of my books get nominated as a group read, I'll not be getting any little acorns, so please support one of my books in 2013 so that I can start growing an oak! :)
I had the opportunity to visit a local college today and say some words in one of their writing classes about self-publishing :)
What is it about the phrase "unknown books" that makes people think of international best selling books?(I'm referring to the poll in which you have asked us to vote in)

This one
It is, but people have entered the likes of The Help, A Game of Thrones etc. These are not unknown booksThat's what I mean
Ah! Indeed, they are not! I hate it when people don't stick to the theme. It's like the Harry Potter lists - always have books in them that have no resemblance whatsoever to HP :( Knocks my book down the list! :(
Ah, you're a star! :)Btw, does anyone know how GR events work? I set one up and invited all my GR friends (68 people) and yet the event page says that 1011 are invited. How'd that happen? Could the people who have it on their to-read shelf also be invited by default? That'd make the number about right.
