Savannah (skyswriting) | 65 comments OMG rugged book cover models, mmm!!!
I do miss that haha

Paul Marron is the perfect example! Though, he can also pull off the smooth look, too.

My man pulls it off pretty well, that Jersey boy yum! @_@

I like the military short, rugged, clean shaven look. I'm not into young model type guys. So I think you can definitely have mature guys who are clean shaven.

I'm watching Strike Back right now, just to drool over the hot military heroes. I especially like Phillip Winchester.

Me thinks I should watch this >.>

Hahaha I love this, " strong but smooth" that could actually make a pretty cheesey name for a cop based romance novel. I do agree there is something rather nice about the military look, I loved that look on Jake Gyllenhaal in jar head but then again I'd probably like him in pair of pink hot pants lol

Paganalexandria | 354 comments I am okay goatees, and actually love stubble. I do not like mustaches, full beards seem unsanitary, and the soul patch should be outlawed.

What I do find effeminate is men with absolutely no body hair. It is pleasant to the eye but pings my gaydar unless a guy rides bicycles (to avoid chaffing). I love a man with nice hairy legs. Maybe I'm weird.

I so agree with that the soul patch is just plain silly. And unless they are into professional sports having smooth legs its just plain creepy. One of friends used to date a guy who shaved his armpit, legs and wore fake tan I can honestly say I could never date a man who grooms like a woman.

It's an okay show. I watch it mainly to get my hot military action fix. The brunet guy has sex almost every episode. He's not my favorite, but the blond guy is super-duper hot!

I like a couple guys with goatees, like Tony Stark and Vishous. I think Russell Crowe looks great with a beard, and Ryan Reynolds. Oh, and I am complaining about Henry Cavill with a beard in Man of Steel. Otherwise, not my thing.

Lisa Ok I need help. My husband thinks I'm crazy. But sometimes with a book I really like, I can't help but look at the last chapter to get a glimpse that things turn out how I like. It doesn't spoil the book for me, and it is completely OCD. Does anyone else do this or am I on my own????

Reggie, I've never actually read the last chapter but I have read the last couple of lines in a book about three times. It wasn't actually on purpose because I wanted to see how many more pages I had to go before the book was finished and how many pages were in the story in the first place that are not teasers of other books.

But I understand the urge to want to know the ending; especially when the characters makes you angry and frustrated with them.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
I used to read the end of books habitually, so I certainly don't judge you, Lisa. It was hard to stop doing it, but I rarely do it now. But still, nothing wrong with it, if that helps you narrow down what you want to read.

message 314: by Savannah (new)

Savannah (skyswriting) | 65 comments When a synopsis interests me while I am at the store, I have a habit of opening to the middle of the book and reading a few pages to see if I like the writing style, dialogue and see if I find anything interesting in general. Just a bad habit. =x

This habit sounded really familiar and at first couldn't remember who else does this. I called my mom and confirmed she was the other odd duck who shares your quirk. LOL

She also drives me crazy with begging to know the ending of every movie she knows I've seen first. Do you do that too? :)

message 316: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Hahaha, no pagan I don't do that with movies, just books. I think the main reason is basically I think I'm a sucker for happy endings. I don't read the whole chapter, I just do a bit of a scan to ensure all the heroes are still alive and where they should be. I have done this for as long as I can remember. I actually hate doing it, but can't seem to help myself, lol. Just once Id like to surprise myself. Imagine how frustrating I found KMM'S Barrons books!!! I had to wait until the fifth book for the best scenes!!!!! Nice to know I'm not alone, though, make sure you tell your mum she isn't the odd one out anymore, haha.

Reggie, I'll let her know. LOL The whole reason why romance is my favorite genre is the HEA. I taking the time to read a book, get invested in the character, only for them to die or fail. Life sucks, books shouldn't.

Angie | 21 comments OK, so maybe I am in the minority here...But this is bugging me since I think this might be the first rec from this group that I didn't enjoy (and I do understand that we all do not have the same taste). I am talking about the series Rock Chick The thing is that the hero’s seem so underdeveloped to me (I read the first three hoping they would get better), and all of the stories are so similar… insert new hot guy description and change some of the heroine’s characteristics. I think maybe these would do better recommended as a feel good chick novel rather then dangerous hero. I don’t mean to offend anyone who did enjoy these, so please don’t take this the wrong way. I think this might be like when there is a lot of hype about a movie then you finally watch it and are like ehh, I don’t get it. Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley

I just wanted to touch base and let all the members know I am sorry I haven't been on Goodreads as much lately. I am going through some changes in my life offline, and I have some responsibilities that have gotten in the way of my online time. Plus my internet has been a major brat lately. I will definitely try to get my schedule in line so I can spend more time on the group with you all. I miss hanging out.

Thanks so much for hanging out and participating, and please know you can contact me if there is something you want me to know about this group!

One of your mods,

Danielle

I love to make soundtracks for my books, favorite couples.

I was listening to Oblivion by M83/Suzanne Sundfor and I Can't Stop and it inspired me to create a GhostWalkers video.

Thanks in advance.

Anne | 85 comments So then I just download books from amazon? Do they just get downloaded onto my iPad? And I can open them thru the app?

message 339: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Anne wrote: "So then I just download books from amazon? Do they just get downloaded onto my iPad? And I can open them thru the app?"

First you download the app onto your iPad and when you open it the first time it will ask you to log in with your Amazon ID. Once you do this the app is linked to your account and when you buy a book through the site it asks if you want to deliver it to the app - so yes and then open the app and the book will be there.

message 340: by Anne (new)

Anne | 85 comments So, he's not really a dangerous hero, but total Alpha.

I just finished On Dublin Street, is it worth downloading the novellas about Ellie and Adam or should I just move on to book 2?

message 341: by Angie (new)

Angie | 21 comments When I rate a book I am usually pretty lenient, meaning if the book is well written and the story line flows I will give it a 3 or above even if I did not actually like the story. My belief is that we all have different imaginations, and maybe I don't enjoy a particular take on a warrior or vampire, but it may be someone else's cup of tea. I just can't understand how some books are getting 4 star ratings on Amazon. I just read a really bad book, it was not written well, the storyline did not flow... it was terrible! Do they pay people to give them higher ratings. If you look at my blurb here you can see my grammar is nothing to be proud of, but the flip side is I usually don't call bad editing for minor issues either. I think this also ruins things for good new authors who are putting .99 cent eBooks out there. I will say I have read many good cheap and free books, so I do not want to knock them... it is just frustrating to me. Maybe people are not bothering to put the bad rating on a book, i just don't get it.

It was. I went to a SAD party (Single Awareness Day). I don't date, so Valentine's Day is always a platonic thing for me, but I still love the holiday.

I think they definitely reuse photo images on the books, especially ebooks/self-pub books. Many authors draw from the same bank of available images because they are more affordable than getting new graphics created.
