Ann M | 3 comments It was a story about the military's use of half-robotic dolphins, and how the more heavily armored picked on the one natural dolphin. They were used to set bombs, etc.

I think in The Day of the Dolphin the dolphins are 100% real, not half-robotic. They're very, very smart and scientists teach them a small vocabulary, enough that they can give a press conference. The military part is right, and they were being trained to set bombs, I believe. I don't know if Sakhalin Island (off Russia) played any role.
