I just finished up a rehearsal in a kind of featureless rehearsal space -- much like a classroom with a couple of banged-up desks and a motley assortment of chairs scattered about, along with bits and pieces of musical stuff from a band which also uses the space to rehearse. I came into the room a little late and missed the diretor's description of the playing space. Looking at a chair placed down left I asked a fellow actor "Is that a chair?" To which she replied, "I'm not sure, I think so". Made perfect sense to both of us, but would be a total non-sequiter to most. Any other examples of the ways in which we bend our realities (sometimes without even realizing it)?
Thanks for your comment, Amanda. I just felt like sharing a somewhat surreal moment with others who have all probably spent time in similiar bland rehearsal spaces....
