Though it was started on the Sookie thread, as per Sarah's request, here is where to post all your favorite Kirk moments!

message 2: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments HAHA. That is great. Let's see...

I also loved when Kirk played Jesus in the living tableau episode and got all mad at the guy who played Judas.

Sarah (songgirl7) Oh, bless you. I'm going to copy my posts over to this thread.

Sarah (songgirl7) I don't think I can pick my favorite Kirk moment. There are just so many. I loved when Kirk opened up a diner in the park across from Luke's after he crashed Taylor's car into the diner. I loved when Kirk played Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. I loved when Kirk had night terrors at the Dragonfly and ran out naked. I loved when Kirk dressed up as the Woman of Questionable Morals because Lulu was sick. I pretty much just love Kirk.

I don't know, Michele. I just adore Kirk. He is so hilarious. He's the nuttiest loon in a town full of crazies. And Sean Gunn's performance was just so good.

Ooh! I also love A Film By Kirk. And the time when Kirk and Lulu were making out during Pippi Longstocking at the Red, White, & Black movie theater. And when Kirk hid the Easter eggs without making an egg map and had to find the rotting eggs and hadn't slept in two days.

Oh, and how about the time Kirk asked Lorelai out on a date? "I think you might be the prettiest girl I've ever seen, outside of a really filthy movie." LOL.

Here are Sean Gunn's favorite Kirk moments: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20038...

Sarah (songgirl7) Kirk as Tevye and a film by kirk:

Every time I hear "Do You Love Me?" I think of Kirk. And my husband directed Fiddler last year, so I heard it a lot.

I was laughing so hard watching that! The best line is at the beginning of it, though...

I'm here, I'm done, I flushed.

and the response:

Good boy Kirk.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA!

OH. MY. GOD. I just read that article about Sean Gunn's favorite Kirk episodes... When he says that he had a still of the Jesus episode that looked like the Last Supper framed and gave them to his family as Christmas gifts... can you get any funnier than that???

message 8: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I have such a geek crush on Kirk. He's not physically attractive at all (what is going on with his weird torso?), but he's so funny and quirky and charming that I can't help but love him.

Sarah (songgirl7) Kirk's many jobs part 2 (not sure where part 1 is)

message 10: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments Oh thank you for bringing up the odd torso. WHAT is that about??? The teeny tiny shoulders. The puffy abdomen. Odd. But he is a really good actor, to be able to play that weird a guy and somehow still be likeable!

Sarah (songgirl7) And the nipples that are, like, an inch and a half apart.

I think I'm right about this: Sean Gunn's brother was married to Jenna Fischer from The Office (Pam). But, sadly, they're getting a divorce. My guess is he was not too keen on Will Ferrell's multiple boob-grabbing moments in Blades of Glory. Just a guess.

The most genius thing about Kirk, to me, was the fact that he worked every job in town. Didn't he sell Luke Lorelai's engagement ring? From a tray of rings that he had pilfered from old widows?

message 13: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments Yup and then he realized that that was the same ring that he wanted for Lulu and tried to buy it back from Luke.

message 14: by Meghan (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM) (new)

Meghan Okay Sarah, your nipple comment was THE best comment I read in my update feed today. I had no idea who you were referring to but it still made me laugh.

And yes, Kirk's jobs (and his quarter million dollars that he save from all of them) are so Kirk. I personally liked the bath products he tried selling to the inn and then had to recall due to poor reactions to the ingredients! sigh. They need to find a way to bring back stars hollow!

message 15: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments The Hay line! Haha. Was it called "Hay there"? I can't remember, but that was classic, and I cannot believe that I forgot that he had saved up that much money!

But speaking of the show as a whole, I am somewhat in love with Luke. He is the perfect guy to me! Sweet, but not showy, so when he does show affection or romance it is super duper special. And he appreciates the relationship he has. Gosh I wanted to be Lorelai, but mainly to have the Luke/Lorelai relationship. Not to mention, he was hot when he was cleaned up, especially in the episode where they first kissed! The one where Kirk had the ninja assassin dreams!

message 16: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Yep, "hay there." Because "grass there" isn't a very good name.

I think the most romantic line in that whole show was the "Lorelai, this thing we are doing here - me, you. I just want you to know I'm in, I am all in." You know, where Luke recounted the story about the first time they met. And pulled out that horoscope. Sigh. If only. For me, I mean... if only.

....... Oh!

SORRY!!! I totally skipped out on the Kirk thing! I must agree that he is one odd looking bloke. But he did have some moves in that Kirk movie. I'm laughing - again - just thinking about it.

message 18: by Meghan (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM) (new)

Meghan I know this is the Kirk is love thread, but I have to jump on the Luke bandwagon. I seriously was pissed off that Lorelai married Chris. For me there are two moments that made me LOVE Luke.

1. After they had their first break up. Emily told him to go back to her and she would not stand in their way. And it was the end of the show and she's watching the Judy Garland "A Star is Born" and there's a knock. And she goes to open up the door and Luke walks in and grabs her and kisses her. I don't know a girl alive who wouldn't want to be kissed like that!

2. I forget the reason why (was it when Richard was in the hospital), but Luke was watching Paul Anka. And she came home and found him feeding him or something. And then Luke explained that he had got into some baker's chocolate. So he drove all over trying to find a vet and the vet's were all closed so he went to the vet's house. And the vet told him what to do and so Luke even COOKED the dog some potatoes ('cause he needed something light). But for me (a huge dog lover), this was the sweetest thing that Luke could have ever done (okay, the ice rink was pretty dang cool--trying to get snow and Lorelai "back together"). But he is always portrayed as this stern and gruff and no-nonsense kind of guy and here he is cooking for a totally insane dog.

To me, that Lorelai could even consider anyone else after that is beyond my comprehension.

But back to Kirk...remember when he was put in charge of hiding the Easter eggs and there were 12 missing...and back to Luke...Luke found them all and gave them to Kirk so Taylor wouldn't yell at him. Gotta love them Stars Hollow boys!

message 19: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments If I ever lost my mind, and went into some permanent delusional state, I wouldn't want to think I was a queen or something, I would hope that I could think I was Lorelai, living in Stars Hollow, with Luke. Does that make me crazy? :)P

message 20: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I think we all had a little Luke crush, which says a lot about the writing and about Scott Patterson's acting, and about his chemistry with Lauren Graham. Because personally, while I never thought Luke was that good-looking (I like pretty boys, he's too scruffy for me), I thought he was sexy as hell.

I loved when, after the first time they broke up, Lorelai called him sobbing and saying how she missed him, her best friend, and she just really needed to see him. And he showed up. I think most guys, after a breakup like that, wouldn't do it. They'd probably just tell their friends how psycho their ex is.

I also liked the "I'm all in" line, Michele. I thought it was especially good because it made it clear that Luke wasn't about to play games with Lorelai. I think it is so stupid when adults play those hard-to-get, don't-show-him-how-much-I-like-him games. It's a waste of time to be with someone who doesn't want you as much as you want them.

One of my favorite Luke moments was before they even got together and Richard had his first heart attack and Luke kicked everyone out of the diner (after making her a Santa burger) and drove her to the hospital. And how he stayed there with her, even though hospitals freak him out. Hospitals freak me out, too, so I think I could understand what a sacrifice it was for him.

And I loved when Rory started dating Dean and Luke got all over-protective, and then how he gave Dean the cold shoulder after he and Rory broke up.

message 21: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) It's funny how the Sookie thread turned into the Kirk thread, and the Kirk thread turned into the Luke thread. Maybe we need a thread for each character. LOL.

message 23: by Marlo (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Marlo | 6 comments One of my favorite Luke scenes was the time him and Dean were wrestling right outside of the diner, for some reason it just cracked me up as it was just so unlike him to do something like that..I just adore Luke.

Hey Erica! We are neighbors :)
I just moved to NC (Raleigh) a few months ago.

Meghan Remember how Luke and Dean played that stupid purple thingy game when they were on the "double date". It was such a boy moment!

Sarah (songgirl7) Jade was just feeling left out of the conversation. She's a Chris fan and doesn't approve of all the Luke talk.

message 29: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments Megan, of course, I can't do it all alone!

Raleigh is great, where did you live Sarah? And Marlo, if you ever need to know anything about the area, ask! If I don't know, I can probably find out! It's not the most exciting area, but it is home. I love it.

message 30: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Erica, I technically lived in Raleigh (according to the post office) but we were about 30 miles from town in a dinky little town called Shotwell (near Knightdale). I went to Wendell Elementary and Carnage Middle school.

message 31: by Meghan (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Meghan jade only likes Chris for his college fund money! ha ha She's a Doyle fan through and through.

message 32: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Ha! Jade just likes Doyle because she might be taller than he is.

message 33: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments Ah, I lived in Knightdale for a year. When I lived there it was insanely dead, nothing but a gas station and a walmart, but I hear it is really booming out there!

message 34: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments Doyle, haha. So nice to see that actor in something I could like him in better than when he was in Buffy!

message 35: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) It was pretty dead when I lived there too. I don't even remember the Wal-Mart. I know we had to drive 30 minutes to the nearest non-Piggly Wiggly grocery store (my mom liked Harris Teeter). My brother worked at a pizza joint in Knightdale, though.

Small like Stars Hollow, but not nearly as charming. And the crazy people weren't cute like Crazy Kirk.

message 36: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments Piggly Wiggly. Ha. They still have a couple of those around here. Harris Teeter is still better though.

If I found a town like Stars Hollow, I would definitely move there!

message 37: by Marlo (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Marlo | 6 comments Thank you Erica!
I really appreciate that!

Knightdale from what I hear is definitely up and coming. It's funny because I moved away from the Manhattan area to get some peace and quiet and it seems like this area is going to become the place to be in a few years lol!

Two things:

1) The Paris-Doyle thing was always so HILARIOUS. Now there is one quirky couple!

2) Luke is genuinely romantic. Gruff on the outside, softy on the inside... and fiercely loyal. Just wish I could find one.

Totally agree that Lorelai was being an idiot marrying Chris. Not because I had anything against Chris, but something as real as Luke happens, how can she so easily, so readily commit to going the distance with someone else??? I don't care how hurt she was nor how guilty she felt, that just didn't calculate.

And now back to our regularly scheduled Kirk programming...

message 40: by Meghan (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:36PM) (new)

Meghan I loved that dude (that played Doyle). His comic timing paired with Paris was just amazing. They really complimented each other. Paris in the beginning was really hard to take and I think Doyle (in big doses) would be even harder. But together, they just make this crazy insane but perfectly matched couple.

Remember the living portraits ep? I loved that. DO they really do that in real life? I thought it was pretty ingeniuous. I thought it was hilarious that Kirk was in the Last Supper. It was just so "him".

message 41: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:37PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments In regards to the Doyle/Paris pairing, I love when they were fighting, doing the Israeli fighting technique, I can't remember what it is called, something magra? Anyway, that was hilarious. Hey, I mentioned on the other thread doing a GG Convention, we could do the living pictures thing there! Haha.

Sarah, as far as I can tell, nothing too exciting in Wendell, but I am still trying to get up to date on this stuff! But really all towns outside of Raleigh are growing!

Marlo, that is funny, I used to live in Queens. Don't worry, it will never be like NY here, no all night Chinese joints, no 'good' pizza joints, altough from what I recall a few years ago, NY Pizza on Hillsborough was fairly close to the real thing. And practically all the restaurants are closed on Mondays! And as Sarah and I were discussing earlier, maybe on another thread, you can't get NC BBQ anywhere else. Have you tried it yet? If not, I can recommend some good places. You have to try it!

message 42: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:37PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments Ok, so I created a new thread, where we can plan/fantasize about what we would do with a GG convention! It is titled, creatively enough, Gilmore Girls Convention! Join me, won't you?

message 43: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:37PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) OK, I have to make this thread about Kirk again.

Classic Kirk moment:

Kirk: This is not how it's supposed to go. I'm supposed to take her out, we're supposed to exhaust my prepared subjects immediately, and then the minute I get up and go to the bathroom, she is supposed to sneak out and leave me here humiliated. Now I have been to the bathroom three times, and I have to tell you, I did not have to go, and every time I came back to the table, she was there and she was smiling, and... hey, did you see her touch my arm? What the hell was that all about?
Luke: I think that means she likes you.
Kirk: Shut up! You take that back!

message 44: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:37PM) (new)

Erica Poole | 199 comments HAHA that was a great one Sarah!

message 45: by Meghan (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:38PM) (new)

Meghan I leave you with this thought:

Nekkid Kirk screaming holding two pillows over his "parts" running out of the dragonfly. Luke running after him.

Sigh. Kirk had some really good pairings! Kirk and Taylor (what was up with that? I secretly believe that Taylor was Kirk's real dad! lol But maybe Kirk looked to him as a father-figure because all he had was mom at home?) Kirk and Luke (total big brother relationship there). Kirk and Lorelai - Remember the marathon and Kirk was manning the illegally parked cars and wanted to start towing Lorelai while she was still in the car!

message 46: by Beth (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:38PM) (new)

Beth | 173 comments Don't forget about "Cat Kirk", who terrorized his "human Kirk" owner. That was a great episode.

As for the living art thing, they really do that in Laguna Beach, California. It's called "Pageant of the Masters". I've always wanted to go.

Back to the "Bop-It"...Rory & Lorelai drug this game out when there was a lull in conversation at their parties...but didn't Max & Luke also play Bop-It, like Season 1?

message 50: by Sarah (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:39PM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Did they? I don't remember. I remember Max and Luke having this hostile conversation about how Luke was always around, fixing things for Lorelai (with Bert the toolbox). It was almost like Luke was marking his territory. If he was a dog, he'd have been peeing all over the place.

But yeah, the Bop-It is for parties that need mouth-to-mouth.
