The ghost was my favorite part. I loved how he materialized out of the rain. I also liked how Edgar could only see him if he wasn't really looking directly at him.

Edgar's habit of noticing strange visual anomolies and of imagining his ability to control them -- the rain drops, the tree leaves -- was a fascinating detail of the story.

I loved how Gar's Ghost was foreshadowed by the dog stories. How the dog at the train station was so obviously still meeting his owner's ghost there. How all the dogs in the kennel still responded to Gar's ghost.

Animals are so much more attuned to changes in nature and in spirit than we are. I really enjoyed that aspect of the story.
