Eda** Khal Drogo and Jon Snow.

Cmac Tyrion is great character. always unexpected and witty.
Arya for the adventure and excitement.
Jon Snow for being the bravest good guy.

Michael Cantwell Arya, because of her self confidence and take no prisoners attitude about life and Jon Snow because of his big heart.

Catherine Andre Arya and Tyrion. I loved the Tyrion chapters and became so excited when I would see an Arya chapter coming up. =)

Jennifer tyrion and arya. love them so much i would name my future children after them!! hahaha

Brittany Wheeler I finished the first book a little while ago and I've got to say, despite the misfortune that befalls him, Drogo's definitely my number one favorite character. He shows a depth of character that a lot of the other characters are unwilling to show, and not only do we see that in the series, but we see that without ever once getting to look through his eyes. The ruthless warrior turned tender lover, and still it seems like he never loses his fierceness...

After him, Tyrion is enjoyable, and I think I'm pretty fond of Dany too, though I'm only about three hundred pages into the second book. Eventually there might be someone to usurp her.

I don't think that'll happen with Tyrion, though.

I've only read the first book so far. Got to say that Jon Snow is my favorite character. I do like Tyrion too--he's so complex.

message 58: by Beth (new) - rated it 5 stars

Beth Tyrion is my favorite overall. I think every character has been my favorite at some point though. Cersei was my favorite in book 4. I mean, I hated her, but I LOVED hating her.

Dee I fell in love with Tyrion and his wit

The obvious one is Tyrion and it's quite palpable why. But I'd like to say Ser Jorah Mormont because like Tyrion, he contains personal struggles and a very sad history. I like this guy and he's trustworthy, and it's very hard to truly trust someone in this world.

Kirsten Bailey I've only read the first two books so far, but it sounds like I'm in the majority here - my favourites are Tyrion and Arya. Seeing their names at the beginning of a chapter, I know it's going to be a good one!

Angelia Arya and Daenarys Targaryen.

Lauren Arya however i've only read the first book because im scared of what will happen in the other books. Can someone tell me the story of whats happened to Arya in all the other books? thnxs

Lauren woah...she like a ninja :) thanks again

Cristala I have finished reading the second book and I have to admit it is very hard to choose just one character. That is why I have decided to go for a top 3.
First off, I enjoyed Lord Varys, the Spider. Always so fascinating to see just how far his web stretches and how many things he can achieve with just information at his hand. A good lesson to learn for life as well... Keep your friends close, and your enemies watched at all times!
Secondly, Lord Tyrion, the Imp. His cunning is what makes the House Lannister proud... apparently Lord Tywin distributed his gifts eaqually amongst his children, but it is the Imp who gets the most useful trait. So then, his cunning mixed with the love of his family and legacy and the desire to see his blood reign supreme, or as close to that as possible makes him a terribly brilliant character, one that stands out and whips everyone who would dare insult him with clever jokes.
And third, Lord Petyr - Littlefinger. It has always been hard to reach into this characters mind and root out his intentions, but that simply gives him a special attraction, in my opinion. Much like his rival, Varys, the information that keeps him needed also keeps him alive.

Conclusion? Amazing book. A story that gets one thinking about the plots and making one want to find out more is a book that sings to the heart.

Jessica It is so hard to pick just one. Tyrion is by far my favorite. Next would be Arya and Davos has become a favorite the more I get into the series.

Ami B I really love Daenerys, her chapters are my favourite (i always fing myself skipping forward to see when her bitsw are coming up. I also really like Jon snow, and the actor who plays him in the series in great ;)Osha is also growing on me.

Linda K Without a doubt Jon and Arya are the best characters that George has ever created.

Lauren I'd appreciate it if anyone found the time to take a look at my story Fear (its short, the description explains why) http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/3...
Thanks :) Comment about what you think please

Locofrijole I have to lean towards Bronn.

message 73: by Matt (new) - rated it 5 stars

Matt Tyrions wit steals the show and Jon so far keeps Eddards legacy the strongest. These two polarizing characters are in my opinion the best and I hope they meet again before the series ends

Katkenoh I have been reading George Martin's Game of Thrones from the very beginning, and my favorite has always been Tyrion Lannister. Followed closely by Jon Snow, and Arya Stark. Tyrion is one of the most interesting well written characters since Tolkien created Gandalf the wizard.

Johnathan Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister.

Shayan Foroozesh Yeo Tyrion :)

Virat hooda Tyrian , then arya ,and then jon snow

Ned feels the most like a real person, weighed down with worries and obligations.

Risha Tyrion definitely. I live for his one liners, sarcasm, and witty comebacks. I also like Little Finger. Never thought I could like a villain. He is the first.

Mackenzie I haven't watched the show yet, and I am only around page 250 of the second book, but:
Ser Jorah is my favorite character.
Eddard was a neat character, too.
(And of course there are characters that have captured my heart such as Arya, Jon, Tyrion, and a few others).
Any love for Ser Rodrik? He's pretty cool in the books as well.

Lisa Hall Favorite character - Tyrion, hands down. Smart and capable and all without swinging a sword, and he slapped Joffrey - loved him for that alone.

I quit reading Caitlyn in book one. People keep trying to convince me she's a strong female character and I just get spoiled witch from her. Lost me early the way she holds Jon responsible for Ned's behavior.

Claudia Marcela Arya and Tyrion

message 83: by Niv (new) - rated it 5 stars

Niv Tyrion!love his wits! I also like Arya.

She has her good moments, every now and then. She is rather irksome right now.

Johnny Tywin Lannister. Clearly.

Kesha Jon, Arya and Tyrion are deflly my fav's ,i love jon snow since i read the first chapter years ago .

Colin Tyrion without a doubt

Rachel Tyrion and Jon Snow!

Will IV Ainiah wrote: "Jon Snow, although his story was slightly more difficult to relate to once he moved away from the main scene. Tyrion as well, because he gave a varied pov to the entire plot. Thus far Arya hasn't done much for me to like her exclusively but nonetheless not too bad.

Couldn't appreciate Dany because she was so out of the whole plot, there was no excitement towards her at all."

Are you sure we're reading the same book? O_o

Kaylene Bernardo Im currently on A Feast For Crows, but my favorite character changes from every book.. But Jon Snow is by far my favorite.. and im starting to like Jamie Lannister and Brienne...

Linden My favourites are; Tyrion Lannister and Arya Stark. Something about them both being victims and overcoming the odds appeals to me...

Maureen I liked bran, he seems important to the story and felt sorry for what happened to him. I liked most of the characters but special favourites apart from bran was danaerys, ned, and jon snow

Aslı Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark. I started liking Jaime Lannister after the 3rd book he is about to be one of my favourites guess.

Stephen Welch Tiffany wrote: "Tyrion and Jon. And am I the only one who loves the Maid of Tarth? She's Sansa's ideal/perfect knight!"

Good point about Brienne, and quite true! I've liked Daenerys from the beginning, and also Arya. I'm on book 5 now and becoming quite fond of Jamie. Tyrion's always been a favorite, and now (guiltily) Cersei ...

Regina Ferrer Jon Snow - mostly because I admire him so much for standing up to his friends, and for risking his life to uphold what he believes is right and just, and Jaimie Lannister - because I like his brand of sarcasm, and the complexity of his character: he was an ambitious and arrogant boy who dreamed of becoming a good, honorable knight, he believes killing Aerys was his finest act, he loved Cersei, madly and blindly that he was willing to do anything - kill children, forfeit his rights to Casterly Rock, etc. He was a gentleman to Brienne, discreetly (masked by his painful japes).

11811 (Eleven) No love for the hound in this thread. That makes me sad.

Lacey I am up to a feast for crows and its terrible but my favourite character so far is cersie. She is ruthless, manipulative, a fierce strong mother. She is the ultimate bitch. I am so hoping someone chops her head off though :-D
