Fairy Tales ~ the new big thing? Who's watching these two? I've seen some of both. Neither is a current favorite, but interesting twist on the tales.

I haven't seen Grimm, but Once Upon a Time seems pretty interesting. I wonder if they can go more than one or two seasons though.
I have been watching Grimm and really like it. Interesting main character and I love the side characters as well. The mysteries are well done also. Just a good entertaining show.
I was wondering the same, Lady Jaye. Guess we'll see. I'd hope they have a plan for longer, but ya never know. Could end up like LOST with absolutely no plan or understandable path. LOL!Leslie, I have liked those I've seen so far as well.
Amy or "Ames" wrote: "Neither have been shown in the UK but I know Grimm will be shown at some point this year."I totally download my US programmes. Don't have the patience to wait, plus I don't have a TV I can use to watch TV on and not enough want to buy one.
How does Grimm compared to Once Upon a Time? I've seen an episode or two of Grimm and really like it so far. A twist on the supernatural genre :)
Grimm is darker and has more stand alone stories. Once upon a time is a soap opera type that blends together by episodes although each one tells a different back story. I prefer Once upon a time but enjoy them both
I also prefer OUAT, Erin. Although, I am behind on watching Grimm, so I'm not sure if that one has improved (for me) or not.
Actually, I put off watching Grimm at the start because the 1st episode was too creepy xD I like my fairy tales to be not-so-disturbing but after a while, I've started to like both series and always look forward to a new ep. You can have your fairy tale princesses in Once Upon A Time & you can have the dark side of the stories in Grimm. They're both enjoyable :)
Ok, Grimm has officially grown on me. Or rather the main actor has - he kinda bugged me initially, though I'm not sure exactly why. His girlfriend is my newest annoyance. Why's she on the show? LOL!OUaT is meh this season so far for me. Sad b/c I really liked S1. Just not sure where they're going with it and not enjoying the split. We'll see how it plays out.
Anyone else watching the most recent season of either/both?
I prefer Grimm to OUaT. The writing on OUaT is quite bad, for Regina's character especially. I find much of it unbelievable, contrived and clichéd. There were only episodes that were halfway decent in the first season -the stories of The Huntsman and Little Red Riding Hood. Even though The 10th Kingdom is more than a decade old now, I still enjoy it, mostly because the evil Queen isn't one-dimensional. I have my doubts I'll watch OUaT S2 which hasn't started yet and I'm all ready liking S2 of Grimm. I love Monroe!
Yeah, I've been less than thrilled with the season season of OUaT so far. But, I'll probably still watch when I catch it on.Definitely keeping up with Grimm. Monroe is adorable! SO happy he's got a girl. Nick is so selfish when it comes to Monroe, IMO.
Hooray for Aussie TV. *grumble* Grimm makes it to our shores tonight, so 11 months after the rest of you've seen it. We do get Once Upon a Time 2nd season starting Thursday night. I better start watching all the DVR eps for S1 first though.
LOL! I hope you enjoy Grimm. It took me awhile, but now I watch the day it airs. S01 of OUaT was so much better than 2, IMO.
I'll be interested to hear what you think of both. :)
I'm a Grimm fan. (view spoiler)I've watched a few episodes of Once Upon a Time and I like Grimm better. My 18 year old daughter likes both.
I started off watching Grimm and really like it. Can't wait for the season opener. And recently I started watching back episodes of Once Upon a Time on Netflix and now I'm hooked.Very different shows but both are fun!
I started watching Grimm but sort of lost interest, need to pick it up again. Started watching Once upon a time and I really enjoy it, but just not the biggest fan of Ginny Goodwin.
I'm still not a Juliet fan. She could die at anytime and I wouldn't miss her a bit. Grimm's definitely grown on us and it's a fave now. I'm behind on OUaT since the move, but hope to catch up soon.
Guess who I met in Sonoma today -- Silas Weir Mitchell who plays Monroe. :D I politely approached him, all ready to ask for a picture and he got spooked. He either isn't used to be recognized or doesn't feel comfortable chatting with fans. He shook my hand and said, "Thanks for watching." Then he kinda boogied outta there. Odd interaction, but very cool! :)
LOL! That he is/was. We were SO excited to meet him. No pics though - didn't want to spook him any further than we already had just by saying hi.
I don't watch that much TV but I've gotten hooked on Grimm since it came to Amazon Prime. I'm still in the first season though.I have to say though that I'm having issues with everybody being so afraid of Nick. I mean, I thought he was going to have some powers at least! Anyhow, I think the tie in with the Grimm Fairy Tales is really good but the police procedure sucks sometimes. I just finished the episode where Nick saved Hank from the Hexenbeast which was probably my favorite so far.
Anyhow, I'm not a fan of Juliet either. They are so blah together! No chemistry at all. I thought he had more chemistry with the Hexenbeast.
Definitely not a fan of Juliet. I know exactly what you mean about everyone's fear of Nick. Kinda funny sometimes. I hate how Nick gets so self-centered, esp around Monroe.
Just caught up on one and a half seasons of Grimm in a marathon session. I have to agree about Juliette and Nick having zero chemistry. She should have stayed with Capt. Renard - they have more chemistry :DAnyone have a favorite character?
Well, I just saw that episode with The Kiss and I have to say that the Captain is one hunk of manhood. Oh my lord! Just how I like them! Big, strong up top (no crazy muscles though) with slim hips. I wouldn't have known he was packing that much heat when I saw him in those suits. So he's mine. :p
OMG D.G - my thoughts EXACTLY!!! We can fight for him, lolz!!And don't forget that deep, tantalizing voice, which goes even sexier when he's speaking French..... caramba! :D
LOL, you two! Have drool bibs ready if his shirt comes off again. ;) Lady Jaye, you made me LOL with your comment, "And don't forget that deep, tantalizing voice, which goes even sexier when he's speaking French..... caramba!" :D
I don't know that I have a favorite. Anytime I start to like Nick he does something insensitive or self-centered to piss me off. The Cap is a hottie and he's interesting - I wanna know about what he is exactly. I think Monroe and his sweetheart are adorable together. I have a celeb crush on Shohreh Aghdashloo (view spoiler). I just love her voice.
Steph, Shohreh's accent is awesome - I remember noticing it when she was first introduced. The Captain is half hexenbiest - and unlike the others, he's a sexy hexenbiest, haha.
I'm not that far along in season 2 so I haven't seen that woman.I'm not into Nick - he reminds me of my previous boss.
Her voice sounds like a purr. ;) Love her! Yeah, I remember when we learned of his mixed heritage. But, I'm curious about the other half. What exactly is his family?
D.G. wrote: "I'm not that far along in season 2 so I haven't seen that woman.I'm not into Nick - he reminds me of my previous boss."
Hahaha.
Steph, I hope in season 3 we get more of the backstory. I wanna see Capt. Renard's mom.
I have watched both of them. I enjoy Once upon a time but I am beginning to get bored with it.I love Grimm. I can't wait for the new season to start. I watch it on the weekend because I am exhausted and fall asleep to early.
