The Most Unnecessary Death
I hate this book and I read it about a year ago. That tells you something. I still have a grudge about when I read it.
Finnick was ABSOLUTELY unnecessary and Prim's was pointless. At that point, I was expecting for the world to just explode and that would be it. I almost would have preferred that.

Definitely Finnick, I'm STILL feeling the anger at the story now, that it was so unnecessary. Though i think what makes his death even more annoying is the fact that the story hardly dealt with the aftermath (I got the same feeling after Remus Lupin's death and that lame epilogue) and we got more of Katniss dealing with her other emotions, yet Finnick's story was left to just... Fade in the backstory. Prim's death was upsetting, but i didn't feel as strongly against it as i did for Finnick's.
I feel like both Finnick and Prim's deaths were not very detailed. I didn't know Prim had died right away. It was almost like Collins couldn't bear to write their deaths so she wrote them as quickly as possible and moved on. Obviously Prim's death had more weight on the story overall, but it seemed hackneyed to me. At least she didn't pull a Rowling and kill Buttercup.
I agree with everyone else, definately Finnick... But his death was just leading up to a sad ending. I don't think she should have left him alive though.
Finnick and Prim. I imagined there deaths to be peaceful and well..... i imagined that there lives would've been longer.
Cinna definitely and maybe Finnick But definitely not Primrose; her death added so much to the book if it wasn't for her death i think i would not have liked the ending of the book, i would have been like "Ok the series is over" but with the death of Prim It was more like " Oh My God It's really over isn't it" while trying to hold back tears. :(
Finnick or Cinna, I think. Mostly because both of them were characters that were important to Katniss, and characters that the readers loved, and thier deaths just didn't take up enough space in the book. Both characters might have made the rest of the series richer by still being around, but their deaths were glossed over, and it just didn't feel like closure enough.
Prim's death I understand, it was what propelled Katniss to murder Coin, to break with Gale and to move back to District 12 and be with Peeta.
There were to many sad deaths but the worst was Cinna's. I was so attached and then he died. I was like " WHY?" I haven't finnished he third book. Does it get any better?
I think that what Suzanne Collins did was really realistic. I'm biased, because she's kind of my hero for being such an awesome author. Finnick's death was okay, I think, because she gave the chance for everyone to remember everything happy in his life and then it was over (if you remember what happened...) Also, if she had done a whole sit down and someone hold his hand and let him get out his last words-- I'm not sure, but in a way, every time that happens in a book it's a little unrealistic. This way Finnick could die and it wasn't... cliche. HOWEVER, I am very, very sad that Prim died. :(
Finnick! He was built up to be such a noble and important character and helped Katniss through so much. He helped her get through her sadness over Peeta's torture and truly cared about her . I remember when he offered her the sugar cube to her for her coffee, referring to the time they first met and when Peeta went mad at dinner and he shot her a concerned glance. He was such a great friend to her and when he died, yes she was sad but she could have been more upset she had lost the one guy that wasn't in love with her, making him an unbiased and true friend. He deserved a more respectful death and rememberance for all he did for her. There was also no meaning behind his death, as soon as Peeta came back it seems he was just dropped out of Katniss's life and killed off.
Finnick and Prim, I know the book was all about killing but did every character we liked have to die? Katniss went into The Hunger Games to save Prim and then suddenly Prim is killed. What the Heck?
I wouldn't consider Prim and Finnicks death's "unnecessary." They were crutial to the plot of this story!

I totally agree. What was the point in killing them..? Mags I can kinda understand, she did it so that Katniss could leave with Finnick and Peeta. Biy Finnicks was stupid.

finnick . i mean, i would liked it to see finnick still in the picture and to help katniss through all the mess.
Finnick... But of course he had to die. After all that time away from his one true love, and he would only know happiness for a split second. The author clearly doesn't like fairy tale romance. ;-) Or maybe she likes romantic tragedies. :-)
Finnick. It was just kind of randomly thrown in there. Cinna's death made sense even though I wish it wouldn't of happened. And maybe Prim's was necessary to cut the final ties of the Gale and Katniss relationship. It sucks because she's such a loved character though...
i think it would be finnick cause suzaane collins can't just kill off caracters just cause she feels like it. Everyone loved Finnick and was devestated when he died i don't understand Suzaane Collins anymore! Ithink it was a big mistake to kill finnick!
Finnick was definitely the only unnecessary death. And also the most infuriating since it was less than 5 sentences long, and since he was a very loved character it was a huge fail.Prim's death leaded to Katniss' break down, and all the deaths in the arena were meant to happen.

I cried too, it's so sad
I cried too, it's so sad
I wish they would have kept Prim, I cried, so that's saving ALOT of tears, well maybe not that much but you know what I mean and then Katniss would have one more person that she dearly loves and the reason she sacrificed herself for being in the Hunger Games.
Everyone is saying Finnick and I agree but Madge! She didn't have to die, what was the point of killing her?
finnick definitly, it was so abrupt i had no time to process it, prime death was devastating but i felt like it had to happen, it really added to the story line!
I guess even Finnick's death kind of made sense because people have to die in war. Its understandable that Suzanne Collins had to keep the story moving, but Finnick was such a loved character that it stinks it had to be glossed over so quick.Same with Madge. She was in district 12 when it was wiped out. Seemed like they took out the businesses and more important buildings first. That would include her home. And I think she wouldn't have fled with Gale and the others without her mom, and it probably wouldn't have been easy to get her moving. I think it would seem too unrealistic if everyone Katniss cared about made it out. It would have been too "happily ever after."
