Sorry to whom ever came up with this list, but I have to say that its WRONG!!!!! Steven Erikson is NOT on it and The Crippled God was the BEST Book of 2011 hands down!!! And not for nothing but it's the BEST friggin series ender of all times too!!! Just had to get that of my chest!
Shells:)
Nor is Patrick Rothfuss' The Wise Man's Fear mentioned, which will probably be my top read of 2011.Or any of Janny Wurts' novels I read this year, including the recently released Initiate's Trial.
I feel the same way. Lol. I joined here almost a year ago and have been playing catch up too. Next year I plan to read more new books. This year I think I read four...maybe six.
Yeah "best of" lists are always in high contention. Still I've found a lot of books that I didn't even know exist from looking at them. For instance the GoodReads Choice lists have been a nice source of inspiration.
Here's another "Best of 2011 List" this time from Barnes and Noble's Blog...The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
Farlander by Col Buchanan
Pathfinder Tales: Death's Heretic by James L. Sutter
The Desert of Souls by Howard Andrew Jones
Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence
Snuff by Terry Pratchett
Of Blood and Honey by Stina Leicht
NeverwinterR.A. Salvatore
The Traitor's Daughter byPaula Brandon
Den of Thieves by David Chandler
Impure: Resurrection by J.R. Bailey
The Kingdom of GodsN.K. Jemisin
Among Thieves by Douglas Hulick
Theft of Swords by Michael J. Sullivan
It would be nice to see a collection of "Best of lists and see what books show up on multiple ones...Prediction: Dance with Dragons and Wise Man's Fear.
I'm not surprised but disappointed to not see The Crippled God on any of these lists. I'm finishing up the Malazan series this weekend and although it takes a certain commitment of the reader this is the most orginal, imaginative, engaging series I have ever read.
