Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe
question
Who is your favorite character from this book.
It has changed for me over time. The first time I read it and saw the movie I was in my late teens. Idgie was the woman then... I just loved everything about her. Then on a reread I leaned more toward Ruth, her quiet strength amazed me. Now I am definitely a fan of Evelyn. Lol and laughed myself silly thinking about the Tawanda moment in the movie at the grocery store parking lot. Only because I imagined doing the same thing except one major problem, while I'm older I'm pretty sure i don't have more insurance the the girl in my for real parking lot Lol.

Big George was pretty awesome.
All of them including if not my fave is Kathy Bates charecter
I really like Sipsey, who takes charge in a quiet way when needed and does what needs to be done whether it's rescuing a baby, fixing hot meals for half the town (in what had to be a tiny, hot little kitchen in the diner), giving someone who needs it a skillet upside the head, or helping Miz Ruth find eternal peace. She doesn't make a song and dance about anything--she just gets things done.
I've known a lot of Ninny Threadgoodes in my time, too. They have no idea what nice people they are, they just are.

I have always loved Idgie and her zest for life. Big George is very special for me too, as it is Nannie. Everytime I think of them I kind of get emotial. Guess that proves how good of a writer Fannie is!
I hate to be predictable but I love Idgie. She's such a firecracker right from the beginning but never loses her heart :).
Ninny... for bringing all the other wonderful characters back to life, and for having such an impact on Evelyn's.

Idgie. One of the greatest literary characters I have ever read. Maybe THE best.
I loved the book and love the characters. My favorites are Evelyn and Big George.
Eva Bates is an interesting character, but I identify most with Idgie, thus she is my favorite.
I love Smokey. Though he is not in much of the book, his spirit is throughout the book.
Idgie all the way!! When Evelyn looses it an becomes towanda the avenger shes pretty awesome but Idgie still wins
Oh Idgie... Truly an American classic fantastic book. Both my Mom and I are huge fans.
Ninny. She told the story beautifully, she was fun, and had such a big heart.
It's a toss up between Idgie and Ruth for me, too - although I consider the entire community of Whistle Stop to be a kind of "character" and I like it almost as much as the "people" characters. Idgie is really funny and makes me love her for her humor and loyalty to those she loves, even when it places her in danger. Ruth I can relate to in some ways as a more quiet, steady presence. She may look soft on the outside, but she has a core of strength that served her well. Love this book!
I relate to Iggy. I loved the humor in this book. Great read.
Ruth Because she helped Idgie overcome buddys death ( well, they both helped each other)either way Ruth is my favorite
