5.1. It’s the Latest Thing!
According to this blog, Shelf Talk, the bookshelves seem to be stuffed with books with titles containing words with the suffix “ist,” books like The Lonely Polygamist or The Alchemist. For this task, let’s be trendy and read a book with a title or subtitle containing the suffix “ist.”

The “ist” must be a suffix – a title will not work just because it contains a word with that 3 letter combination (whistle, fist, etc.) Plurals and possessives are fine, as is the alternate spelling "yst" (as inThe Alchemyst)

The blog article contains a number of suggestions to get you started.

words that don't work:
list
twist
heist

Katrina (katmcv) | 457 comments Does The Boyfriend List: 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver work?

Word = list. Just clarifying as I've wanted to read this one for ages!

No - the word in the title has to be a suffix. Typically, this is going to refer to a person - someone who does the thing that the "ist" refers to - a "polygamist" is someone who practices polygamy, an alchemist is someone who practices alchemy.

Dee (austhokie) | 7517 comments I found these 2 on my list that I think work

The Hypnotist - someone who practices hypnotism

The Lock Artist - someone who practices art - in this case the art of unlocking locks

Midu Hadi | 903 comments The Hypnotist (Reincarnationist, #3) by M.J. Rose
This is the other book with the same title that I'll be using.

message 11: by Felina (new)

Felina I thought about that one to Anomander but its the third in the series and I haven't read the first ones.

message 12: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 903 comments I think it isn't connected to the first two. Let's see. I'll read and then find out.

Me too- I didn't quite get to it in the fall challenge.

Judy | 832 comments I found these in my library catalog, I'm not sure if they all work:

Narcissist (in subtitle)-Such a Pretty Fat: One Narcissist's Quest to Discover if Her Life Makes Her Ass Look Big, or Why Pie is Not the Answer

Humorists (in subtitle) - I'm Not the Biggest Bitch in This Relationship: Hilarious, Heartwarming Tales About Man's Best Friends from America's Favorite Humorists

There were also titles with tourist, terrorist, novelist, socialist if those work too.

yes, that works. The suffix "ista" would seem to be the Spanish language equivalent of "ist."

If they combine to over 100 pages, you can use them.
