Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Over in a Flash - hopefully will be a reoccurring challenge.

I stole this idea (with permission) from the SOS: Serious Overload of Series group.

Over in a Flash ~ Cover Hunt Challenge ~

Duration: December 1st - December 31, 2011

Rules: Read 2 books with the following items found on their covers; choose 2 of the 3 options below. Be sure to post your book covers, dates read, and star ratings. If you want, you can do this at the end of the month after you reviewed your covers. Feel free to do all three if you want.

Member Choosing: Choices this month by BJ Rose, who just completed the Romance Readers Reading Challenges group’s “A Lifetime of Books” . Her challenge of 74 books turned into a 3½ year endeavor. Phew! A wondrous achievement, when you consider she had to find and read a book that was published in every year of her life. Here is her selection, starting with Post #678 and #679, consecutively. Thank you and congratulations again, BJ!

COLOR: red (for Jolly Old St Nicholas)
HOLIDAY: Christmas (decorating & baking & gifting & caroling)
ITEM: Christmas tree/fir tree, Christmas decorations/lights, gifts

message 9: by Lina (new)

Lina I'm hoping I'll get some that would fit this challenge!

message 10: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Well, I was going to do Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward for a red cover, but at 56 chapters, plus epilogue - at a chapter a day we'll be done in January!

message 11: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) You'll get involved with it and it will fly by.

message 12: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Nope. We're pacing ourselves, Heather. ☺

message 13: by Lina (new)

Lina oh, we are? *starts whistling*

message 17: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 1216 comments Hmmm! Just finished Bring Me Home for Christmas (Virgin River, #16) by Robyn Carr which would work for Holiday & Item - think I'll use it for Item/Christmas Tree, 'cause now I'm reading A Winter Scandal by Candace Camp which takes place at Christmastime. In fact, they just found a live baby in the manger at church!

message 18: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Oh, I have that one, BJ. Looking forward to reading it.
A Winter Scandal by Candace Camp

message 19: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) Its hard not to dive into that series. At least it was for me.

message 20: by Lina (new)

Lina You like Robyn Carr, Heather?

Haven't read Candace Camp in a while, Lisa, but I'm enjoying it.

COLOR: red: Notorious Pleasures by Elizabeth Hoyt - at least the dress is red!
HOLIDAY: Christmas: A Winter Scandal (St. Dwynwen, #1) by Candace Camp which takes place at Christmastime. In fact, they found a live baby in the manger at church!
ITEM: Christmas tree: Bring Me Home for Christmas (Virgin River, #16) by Robyn Carr - nice down-home feeling with helping the needy at Christmas. And the decorating of that community Christmas tree is a nice touch!

message 24: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Congratulations, BJ Rose! Man-oh-man! Ir really want to read A Winter Scandal (St. Dwynwen, #1) by Candace Camp - like NOW!

message 25: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 1216 comments Thanks, Lisa!! A Winter Scandal is good!! And it looks like it's the beginning of a series.

message 26: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 257 comments YES! I managed to do 2!

Holiday - decorating (ribbon) The Christmas Love-Child (Snow, Satin and Seduction) (Harlequin Presents Extra, #78) by Jennie Lucas

Cover - Christmas tree/fir tree Parents Of Convenience (Harlequin Romance) by Jennie Adams

I wasn't sure I had 2 of them in all my reading this month LOL

message 27: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Congrats, Susan! I wanted to do all three, but I don't know if I going to get to Plum Pudding Murder (Hannah Swensen Series #12) by Joanne Fluke .

message 28: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 257 comments thanks! I had green out the waazoo, but no red on my covers.

message 29: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I've got Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward if I don't get to Loyalty in Death (In Death #9) by J.D. Robb - but I did already use it for another challenge. Not that I don't use books over and over again, but I try not to for the smaller groups. We'll see.

message 30: by Heather (last edited Dec 25, 2011 01:36PM) (new)

Heather (messybar) I think I'm only getting one this month. Not sure what I'll be reading this last week of the month/year, but I don't think it'll be anything to fit. =(

ITEM: Christmas lights: Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor (Friday Harbor, #1) by Lisa Kleypas by Lisa Kleypas 12/21/11 ★★★★✩

message 31: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I don't know, Heather. I mean, I think the cover of The Princess Bride by William Goldman looks like they are running through Fire Swamp -- where they navigated the R.O.U.S. (Rodents of Unusual Size). That looks like fir trees to me. Or you could say there is certainly "fur" on Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs - LOL!

message 32: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) WOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW
I don't think I would have ever thought to stretch fur that far. lol

message 33: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Hey, it is all about being creative. A "fur" is still in line with winter. Brrrrur.

message 34: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) I got it, how about the Christmas trees in the background in North of Need (Hearts of the Anemoi, #1) by Laura Kaye

message 35: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I'm sorry, Heather, I can't see anything but abs . . . just kidding! (view spoiler) Yup. Those are fir trees.

message 36: by Heather (last edited Dec 25, 2011 02:18PM) (new)

Heather (messybar) Cool, Lisa Kay! Thanks for the help. ;-)

message 37: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Congrats, Heather! Oh, I don't think you stretched. If you had done "fur" - that would have been a stretch. ☺

I really wanted to get to Plum Pudding Murder (Hannah Swensen Series #12) by Joanne Fluke b/c I felt it fit the challenge better... but I gave up. Then, wouldn't you know it, I was able to finish my other audio earlier than expected and started listening to PPM.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Finished Plum Pudding Murder (Hannah Swensen Series #12) by Joanne Fluke too!
