Journey to the Center of the Earth
question
Lost in Translation?

In some translations, Professor Lidenbrock’s name is changed to Von Hardwigg and his nephew, Axel is called Harry or Henry. Is it just me, or is this really confusing? Does anyone know why these changes were made?
Also, how do you all feel about character's names becoming so drastically changed within translations, does it do a disservice to the original text?

I think they changed the names to be easier for American readers. It's sad when they do things like that. Exposure to foreign words is good for our brains.
