Jak (blindjak) | 10 comments One that jumps to mind is Rose Madder by Stephen King. A battered wife runs away from her husband and sets up a new life elsewhere as a voice actor reading ebooks. Nasty husband finds here and most definitely wants to do harm.

Tamara | 4 comments The only thing that comes to mind is The Glass Lake by Maeve Binchy, but I don't really remember a suspense vibe, i'm afraid.

Kate (katebennett1230) if it was YA, could it be Don't Look Behind You (by Lois Duncan)?

Laina (lshockley) | 188 comments This might be too old, but I Married a Dead Man by Cornell Woolrich has a similar plot. Published 1948.

Still looking, Jane?

message 15: by Lsophia (new)

Lsophia | 153 comments Sleeping with the Enemy by Nancy Price, Dance Upon the Air by Nora Roberts, and Black and Blue by Anna Quindlen all feature women who ran away from abusive exes.

Although it's not years and years ago, The Glass Butterfly by Louise Marley features a woman on the run from a known murderer.

Rachel | 1531 comments Possibly Ladder of Years? Although it's not really a suspense book.
