Ellen (karenvirginiaflaxman) | 115 comments I think we have two different authors showing here; I doubt that the author who wrote the books on marine biology is the same person as the one who wrote the novels. Being still new as a librarian, I'm not sure how to proceed. I understand that we separate out the marine biology-related books, but then don't know how to proceed. Help?

Use this link

http://www.goodreads.com/author/edit/...

At the bottom of the page - is a disambiguate link - click this.

It will take you to this page:

http://www.goodreads.com/author/disam...

Enter the name separated by Brian^^Morton (where^ is space)at the top of the next page

Then use the radio buttons to select the books to be moved to the new profile.

Thank you, Paula. I succeeded in moving nearly all the marine biology books to the new Brian Morton profile, but missed one. How can I fix that? Also, it appears that there's another Brian Morton, who writes books about jazz and music. How to fix this?? I'm getting messed up. Would you be able to move the one marine biology book I missed to the Brian^^Morton page? Thanks so much for your help. I feel so "new"!!

Paula (paulaan) | 7027 comments Ok, have sorted them out

If you miss one, you then need to edit the book page, so look up the book- then edit, change the author name there (add the extra spaces)

If there are more than one, then follow the directions in msg2 increasing the number of spaces

Thanks, Paula. This is a procedure that us newer librarians need to practice and learn to execute without having to consult a senior librarian for help. I am glad to know that to create a second disambiguation one can add more ^'s - I had a gut feeling that that might be the way to do it, but wasn't sure.
