janine | 7715 comments I think they should take all the help they can get from the EU, waiting and debating will only make matters worse. It's not easy though, as many Greeks fear the price they'll have to pay by abiding to the conditions the EU decides on. Greece suffered a lot during WWII and many Greeks feel like they've never had any proper compensation. To now have Germany have power over them (because that's the way some of them see it) hurts. Then you get things like this:

Paula Froelich | 12 comments Not much they can do... what they CANT do is go back to the Drachma - it would bankrupt their country for years, a hole they wouldn't be able to get out of and it would drag Spain, Italy and Portugal down with them.

Frankly, its a long term problem that basically means the next ten years are going to not be so great. Austerity, but also investment in the future. Greece needs to buckle down and join the 21st century in industry, exports and economy. You cant just rely on shipping anymore. They need to take the bailout, deal with it, but reinvest in education, technology and understand that there is no such thing as a 35 hour workweek or a 14 month year
