This is a thread started by "foreverjuly" who appears to be Jason Letts, who explains:

Rather than have some arbitrary number serve as the cutoff for accomplishment, I think the real thing we're all after here is growth, and we should be focusing on that rather than whether anyone sold any particular number. But having a few different levels might give us some good data on how people are doing at this point, so when I add names they'll be put in the proper level below.

Please record the following information:

J.A. Beard (jabeard) The cool thing is I've gotten to know a lot of these people, so it really makes me say, "Yeah, go you!" :)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments To quote Star Trek - "I want a piece of the action."

Like 10% LOL

She deserves to. She's a superior writer and a lovely person too.

I woulda said that, but I gotta consider my dignity...

J.A. Beard (jabeard) I gave up my dignity long ago. It helps me get through the day with remarkable efficiency.

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Speaking of losing dignity...

Impressive Bravado was approved for Smashwords Premium Catalog! As a freebie!

I hope this works to jump start my (dead) sales.

How may tries was that, Kat?

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments One day, I'll be up there with KC May.

One day, pigs will sprout wings.

message 10: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments It went through the first time in May - and went out as a freebie without a hitch, to B&N and Diesel.

This time (after I added the ISBN) it took 5 tries to get it through. From 9/8 to 10/25 - part of the delay was me, but some of it was the delay with approval on their end. Takes about a week for them to look it over.

message 11: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments I feel the same pain, Katie.

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments Hey, I'm a fantasy author, Kat. I only have to believe pigs can fly and they can!

Tired of spare ribs anyway. Porkywings™ are the next big thing, and Katie W. Stewart are their High Priestess!

From witch to High Priestess in less than a week...I am doing well!

It would be good to have some idea of how long each of these people has been playing the game of Indie publishing. Also whether it's just ebooks or paper copies as well.

Amos Fairchild (amostfairchild) | 305 comments Total sales November = 1

Down from October so far.

This NaNo novel is eating my marketing time. lol.

message 16: by Amos (new)

Amos Fairchild (amostfairchild) | 305 comments I also made a deal with Therese that I could only do NaNo if I wrote naked. Has been interesting so far... No. There will be no pictures.

message 17: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments October ended better than expected - 5 sales on Amazon. 2 of StM, 2 of LDL, 1 of ImpB

message 18: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Oddly enough, I've sold 1 copy of StM and 1 of LDL on B&N.

There was a dustup on The Passive Voice via a post called 'Self-Pub Sucide' here:
http://www.thepassivevoice.com/11/201...

It appears the original poster "Out Loud" bought both my books to read and give a line edit.

What, no pictures. Not even for us illiterates? How shall we know what's going on unless there's a video?

Hey, Kat, what's wrong with having standards? There's something in that dustup that doesn't make sense.

message 21: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Well, as I commented on The Passive Voice, Indie writers have become a twitchy bunch. Like deer in hunting season they jump at every noise.

She typed something about 'all Indie books suck' which sent them all into a frenzy like wounded animals.

I thought she made sense - after all standards vary wildly just like in pulp fiction. Otherwise why call them Dollar Dreadfuls?

Of course, being the rabble rouser I am, I offered her a copy of StM to pick apart to her heart's content.

Bless her heart, she bought it from B&N!

Now I've got another spike in my bed of nails (the reviews I'm waiting to see.)

PS - I've got my first book signing tomorrow for 'Let's Do Lunch.'

I've dyed my hair blonde for the occasion.

Be afraid, be very afraid, Kat Jordan coming!

message 23: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments I admire your courage, Kat! I had a bed of nails but I deflated.

message 24: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments The advantage to being a tough old bird - one doesn't deflate as easily. (Now it's AFTER the reviews come in.)

message 25: by Amos (new)

Amos Fairchild (amostfairchild) | 305 comments Sales this month so far 1/10th of last month. That could be a little depressing, lol, but after all these years it seems less of an issue than maybe it is.

message 26: by Amos (new)

Amos Fairchild (amostfairchild) | 305 comments To be fair... When I am in full writing mode, as I am at the moment, and busy during the day with those pesky farming things, I tend to not market very well. December, in that case, should be better. ;)

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Very interesting. Many of these are the same folk who were on the boards when I was active and it is nice to see them doing so well. Though I have read a couple of books from some of them and am surprised at their numbers.

Great about Kathleen, she works very hard at her promotion.

And way to go Christopher Bunn!

Porkywings™ huh, Andre? I can just see it now...

Good luck with 'out loud' Kat. Knowing the care you take with your writing, I am certain you will come through with flying colours!

message 28: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Thank you, Sharon!

Sometimes all that perfectionism comes in handy. :-)

The signing was nice, a friend of mine from about an hour south of E-town came in to buy a copy. That was really sweet of her. The guy for whom I did the edit also came to get a book - and his poor bleeding manuscript. And my best GF got one, too.

I like the way you put that!
