Wilhelmina Jenkins | 2049 comments Nnedi Okorafor's wonderful novel, Who Fears Death, has won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel! Rashida | 264 comments I have to say, I was rooting for The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms in this race. But, a big hearty congrats to Okorafor. She deserves it. This was quite a list. Three writers of color, five books about people of color. That's a huge thing in the fantasy world, and I hope it heralds more inclusive works to come.

Agreed. This seems to be a major, and welcome, change. Thanks for the link, Mina. My to-read list is unwieldy, but I'll consider adding all these.

Wilhelmina Jenkins | 2049 comments Nice article about the win in Amazon's Omnivoracious:

Rashida, are you reading The Kingdom of Gods yet?

I bought it. But I'm forcing myself to finish my current library book before I'm allowed to read it.

Doret | 15 comments Much congrats to Okorafor, Who fears Death was a great story. Half of the nominees in this category being female authors of color was a beautiful thing.

I wonder if authors of color who write fantasy are held to a higher standard since its such a hard genre to break into.

I don't know when I will get around to reading The Kingdom of Gods but its simply a matter of when not if.
