Jenn | 6 comments Hi, I recently moved to Oly and am seeing if anyone knows of any book clubs, not online, but that meets in person? It would be nice to meet some new folks down here but I can't seem to find any book clubs. Thanks, Jenn

Blujbird Twig | 20 comments Hey Jenn, welcome to Oly. I was in a bookclub a while back but we broke up after a while.
I looked at your list of reads...I have read many of your books too.
If you were in a book club and it was your turn to pick a book what would you pick? Tell me and I will try to read it, then maybe we (and anyone else who wants to) can meet for coffee to discuss it. Hows that sound?
Olyimpians tend to be an apathetic bunch so its best to start slow....Jenny Macc

I have heard that the book group that meets at Fireside Bookstore is also really great. I've been thinking of joining a group, too, so maybe I'll read the book you two are reading and we can see what comes of it.

Amen to the apathy, Jenny- what do you suppose that's about? The weather?

Jenn | 6 comments Thanks guys! Of course both of those library book clubs meet during work hours which doesn't make much sense to me. Maybe I'll look into the Fireside group too.

I actually will probably need to wait a little bit before committing to a book, I am currently still working in Seattle and commuting, and desperately searching for work closer to Oly, so I don't have much time to read right now and am in the middle of two books and taking FOREVER to read them. Hopefully I will find a job in the next month or so and my life will settle down a little and then I can get back with you two about a book. Or if you decide to read the same one, I can see if I can keep up. haha!

I know, it's a bummer that both of the Pageturners groups meet during the day. I wonder if we would have any kind of turnout if we had one at night. It tends to cater to seniors mostly at this point, which is great, but it would be nice to get a broader spectrum of people coming. I'll bring that idea up at our next meeting.

As for me, I'm getting ready to read Miranda July's newest "No One Belongs Here More Than You." Although I'm not sure if she actually ever lived in Olympia, she did spend a lot of time here for a while. She interviewed my daughter one year at yoyoagogo for a movie she was making, but I never followed up to see if she made the cut. Maybe I'll get her movies and watch them while I'm reading the book for a true multimedia experience. Anyhow, if anyone wants to join me in discussing that book, I'll be starting it as soon as I finish my current read, which will probably be in a week or so.

I don't know if I ever got back to this thread- you know that this group has since started a book club, right Jenn? Check the events section of the page... we're meeting again on April 4th.
